How long should these be? On both my 7 and my 9 one line is about 10cm longer resulting in the kite flying to one side. Has the one stretched - I am told they never stretch?! or one shrunk (it has twists on both sides from the pulley)? While I can get another from the distributor, I want to replace them with something longer lasting. Anyone have any advice as to line width, type (spectra, dyneema, etc), and, in particular, length?

go on the us slingshot website. then you go to support and theres a page regarding to pulley and bridal. from memory the 7m needs to be 180m, and i have an 11m that was 220m.

How about call slingshot and they will give you P-lines for free. The sligshot ones are the correct size spectra so it's a no brainer there.

Check your pulleys before each session. It only takes a few seconds to see if the wingtip pulley if free spinning while you connect your lines.

yes, they have shrunk as a result of wear. keep an eye on the pulleys before every session. call your kite shop to organise some replacements, they should be free if it still under warranty.

The slingshot shop here in CT only had P lines for a 5 and I need for 7 and 9. Don't really want to hang around and wait while they get them.

They are spectra, but without a core so that the loops can be made at each end. The ends are pushed back into the line to make the loop, but the rest of the line does not wear well because of the absence of the core in the rope. The pulley causes the lines to twist and I believe that they shrink, as other posters have said. I have been using the kites for half a season and the lines supplied by slingshot do not last. I want something of better quality.

Thanks Surfingboye - will have a look there.

its probably not the bridle
It is likely you have streched a line -
your options are to strech the other s or tie a not in the end piece of the line that is stiched that wiill shorten it about 10 cm

the thick front lines are not pre streched when they leave the factory

hope that helps - i just had to fix mine

As others have said, have a look at the Slingshot website and you can download a PDF on pulley alignment. If your pulley isn't functioning as it should due to poor alignment or sand etc it will cause the line to twist and therefore shorten substantially. If one pulley is doing this and not the other then you will experience the kite flying to one side.

I am also lead to believe that if you remove the neoprene pulley cover it then it prevents the pulley from twisting as much and reduces premature wear. Anyone else heard this?

Send them an email as well as they are always very quick to reply and happy to send replacement P lines as required.

Hope this helps
