Hi All,

Got a Slingshot Rev 2 (11m). At the end of each of the 4 lines there is a multiple knotted pigtail which goes through a loop to attach to the kite. I have been rigging it with the back lines on the second knot, and the front lines on the 3rd knot.

What I would like to know is ..... what are the ramifications of altering the lengths of these lines by way of attaching to different knots?

Shortening front lines = ???
Lengthening front lines = ???
Shortening back lines = ???
Lengthening back lines = ???

I am presuming these changes will have an effect on power and handling, but what changes get what results?

I'm definetly no expert but my understanding is....
Basically shorter front lines/longer back lines = less power.
Longer front/shorter back = more power, up to the point where the kite starts to backstall, then you will loose power and the kite will fall backwards out of the sky.

If trimmed correctly you should be able to pull the bar all the way in and get max power without the kite backstalling (some people however like to trim the kite so they can achieve a small amount of backstall but lets not go there ATM)

Think about what is going on when you sheet in or out, when you sheet in (pull bar towards you) you are effectively shortening the back lines, so if you shorten the back lines at the knots first you wont have to pull the bar in as far to get the same angle of attack (power) as before and vice-versa.

Does that make sense?
