Hey guys. just wondered how much you guys paid for your repairs on your kites(pics would be good to relate to size of mine).
i ripped my rev last week and need a quote on how much it will cost to fix. its probably about 70cm long. right next to the middle strut.

cheers

Just take it to Neil at Hold the Lines in Wembley, he'll normally do it while you wait. I have an idea on what it would cost but It's not my job to quote here on someone else business.

I don't know anyone that hasn't been happy with the quality, service or price.

Bite the bullet and pay whatever price they ask!!!!,the repair men aren't making a killing and without them you would have to refresh your sawing skills

Last time i visited i even got a freeby from neil,a bit of rubber to extend the donkey dick on my Naish, top service, good bloke and conservative prices.

Can't go wrong

Did anyone think he might actually NEED a quote or a ballpark figure? Insurance, someone elses kite, ask mummy for the money etc etc.

having said that, pay what they ask, it's money well spent usually.

I've had two kite repairs from different places.

one was $115. it was a rip from LE to TE and a bit along the LE where it connects to the canopy.

the other was a V shaped tear about 70cm total. not running directly along a connecting surface. $80.

There's a good ball park figure for ya.

I've been quoted $45 a metre for repairs on the canopy as long as they're not on the struts of LE.

Cheers

Yep, wasnt all my fault tho if he thinks it was. wat happened is that i had my kite at like 1 o clock when the gusty conditions we were in dropped to nothing and my kite fell out of the sky onto the water. i gave him plenty of warning to move as i was literally SCREAMING at him and he still managed to run into my kite and put his hand through my kite.

The thing that then really ****ing pist me off is that i was stuck on the otherside of the estaury with a ripped kite where the sun had only 20 minutes left in it and ur friend didnt even talk or confront me about it, or help me get back to the otherside of the estaury. then what really pissed me off is that he kitted up and away from me several times looking at me and seeing the kite was ripped and he said nothing, no sorry or can i help u.

The final straw was when my friend who i was kiting with had to get a canoe or more like a tub about 1 1/2 metres long, had to push it along the estaury to get to me so i could put my kite gear in it and we both had to push the canoe back across the estaury.

when i got back on the right side of the estaury i find that u and ur friend have pissed of.

Sorry if u think im aiming this at u sandman, but im not, im aiming this at ur cowardish friend. who the hell leaves a 16 year old kid with a broken kite on the other side of an estaury when the night is beginning to set in.

Understood, I was chating to him about it after, the reason he didn't react was 1, the sun was setting and therefore right in his face so he couldn't see the kite coming from above him and upwind (not a common place to look while trying to handle ones own kite in gusty conditions). 2 it was so bloody windy he and I could hardly hear each other while shouting from 5m away sitting in the water let alone while moving along from 30m away. I saw the whole incident and both his hands were on the bar as the kite hit.

I dont know why he did not go and chat to you about it, that was bad form IMO, regardless of who was at fault.

We actually offered to kite drag your mate across with the canoe to get the stuff back but he told us he was okay. ???

And yes, sorry for not sticking around to talk afterwards, but we needed to pick up my car which had broken down earlier. Since your friend was happy swimming across without out our help and there is no crime in kiting in a straight line and having a kite fall on your head, we left. I hope you can trust me that had he felt at fault he would not have backed down from fixing the kite in any way.

We were all kiting in a small area in gusty conditions, such an event is more likely to occur in this situation and as bad luck would have it, it did. I'm sorry for your loss and hope you get back on the water soon.

on the topic of your original question, the last kite repair I had cost me $50 for a straigh LE to TE rip 30cm from the center strut of a 10m. The repair guys are much happier if the kite is washed, dry and sand free too.

Drop with Neil, go have a beer across the road come back in 30 mins and go home.

If he doesn't need to unpick any seams from the strut and its just tape up and stitch you will be up for $40-$50. I had one a few weeks ago after Gnaraloo about 70cm, great job just like every other time I've had to get repairs, which has been a few unfortunately.
