What sort of skill level are we looking at there? I mean, is that the sort of stuff that your average windsurfer can do, or is that 'top of the line' ability?

If any of the locals were doing that sort of stuff, I would have seriously considered giving windsurfing a go, but they don't. It's just straight line run, have a rest, straight line run back, have another rest, repeat.

check out Graham Ezzy in the USA Team section still year 12 at high school.

When you do eventually see a sailboard live and 5m above the wave they just launched from. Maybe then some respect may creep in.

Don't get me wrong....stuff like in that vid (and plenty of others I've seen) is awesome for sure, so I've got plenty of respect for the skill involved. I just wondered how *much* skill is involved.....are we talking about the elite of the elite, or can any half respectable windsurfer do those moves??

Inspiring stuff. I've not seen much sailing in decent wind and waves lately. But a very good friend of mine Glenn, pictured www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=3606&text=Glenn+Alexander
was nailing doubles few years ago. I'm sure in the right conditions guy's at Marg's and Gnarloo would be doing a majority of those moves I'd imagine. Although I have been known to be wrong on the odd occasion..

Out of my league, but having the right conditions like nice cross off wind, well formed waves etc makes a huge contribution.

Well,of course this is a vid of a full on pro (well,at least the son of a legendary pro)who lives near and sails at the best wave spots on the planet.Hookipa and Lanes on Maui. This spot gets epic conditions for wavesailing. Unfortunately, most spots are not this good.Certainly not my local spots ! Thats why I took up kiting, originally to get out in our lighter winds and sh1tty surf, then I got totally hooked on it and never looked back.
I used to make regular trips to those spots on Maui, for the windsurfing, but now I dont need to!

But,hey,I still appreciate some good old fashioned ripping!Be it wavesailing, surfing, tow in etc.

u have to think that windsurfing is what? 20+ years old? Then look at kiting which is less thena 10 years old and look at how much farther its come.
