when i fly my SB3 i find when the bar is out the kite has very slow response in turning and doesnt turn as quick as when the bar is pulled in. is this just the way these kites are or is there something wrong with my kite/line lengths?

I had found the same on my SB3 14. Thought it was my relative innexperience but I had no such problems with my Omegas 9 & 12 . Even my Contra II 17M turns better than the SB3 14 .

Could it be that the SB works better on a 2:1 set up? Currently on 1:1 .. Any advice from the Cabrinha experienced SB team

Tks,

V

All kites turn slower when sheeted out. Or all that i have flown. Just keep the power on
I find my SB3s are still quick sheeted out, but much better when the power is on.
and ummm yeh, switchblades are 1:1

To be honest, the Cab's are not the fastest turning kites, try something like a Rev, Thruster or Furia and you'll get an idea of what fast turning is like. The SB3 was aimed more at wakestyle.

NO 14M kite is ever going to really turn quickly.

I ride a 12m and an 8m SB3 the 8m is lightning fast ( usually the wind is 22+ ) but the 12m.......... OMG it is like waiting for a bus can only imagine the 14 is even worse.

They really need quite a bit of speed to turn properly and i find the 12m responds well ( better at least ) to about a half sheeting when turning.

You guys need to get out and try a few different brands. you need some perspective on the word FAST.

Are you riding with the bar past the stopper? If you pull down and click in the stopper you won’t have this problem, when you ride the kite past the stopper it won’t turn at all and it will flag the kite out, it will turn faster with the bar in.

This problem has been eliminated on the new IDS kites.

yes i have to agree the 12m SB3 does turn like a truck but the new IDS 12m SB is a dream so much better than the SB3, turns faster and alot smoother same with the 14 the performance has been greatly improved

With a Race worked Thundercat in the garage and a GTR I am pretty sure I have a good perspective on the word fast

I am however all ears with suggested brands in the 12m area that turn faster ! Have tried the REV and it does not seem to turn any faster IMO maybe the 8m SB3 is not the best yardstick for me to use. Maybe I am expecting my bigger kites to handle more like the smaller ones perhaps I am just dreaming.

Oh well a 10m IDS SB may be my answer

Imagine a 12m or 14m that turned with the speed of an 8m you could probably get going in about 10knots.
