As i write there's a 35 knot southerly charging through, creating big lumps on the water, also known as waves!! when i wake it will be Christmas day!!! YES!!! you wakestyle boys will have to stay at home and play mummies and daddies or something as the waves will be bigger than 1/2 a meter Bring it on!!

Was hoping to get out at Caloundra for a run before work, but the SOLID 30knots with 45 gusts looked a bit out of control.

Anyone for a really fast downwinder?

bloody 27knt gusts yesterday, 58kg and using a 07 11m fuel i think i spent more time in the air than on the water, i did a solo kite session out the front of sunshine surf club, so windy i could rocket upwind faster than a fart from a fat man. any of you guys kite? saw a kite in the distance around castaways

That was Tony and his buddy (on a 19m!!!). I got out about 4 at Stumers and had the same experience as you! My kite did some weird sh%t in the big gusts and when I'd go to full depower on the bar it would flatten out like a board and shiver and shake I'm keen for an early tomorrow, round lunchtime...

Yeah, echo and I did a downwinder yesterday arvo from Mudjimba to Stumers - was so pumped by the time we got there - first time kiting in the bays - such a good spot. When we got to Stumers, the wind jacked up by about 5kts so I had to get out quickly as I was on my 14m.
Wish I had a smaller kite for today - need a 10m me thinks

Wow, it was crazy today . Perfect wind direction with lots of south. It looked so clean on the inside sections.

I was just setting up my 8m at Coolum around midday when we saw what looked like someone body dragging around Point Arkwright. It seemed a bit odd on such a windy day. The guys was getting lofted as he came around the point so we ran to the southern end of Coolum Beach expecting to help land his kite.

By the time we got there he had pulled the safety and brought the 8m kite safely into the shallows - all very controlled.

The kiter reckons it was at least 40 on the outside and he had separated from his board.

That was enough to pack up and call it a day.

Radical!! Echostorm, think I'll wait till midday tomorrow to see if the wind cleans-up and backs-off a notch... Right now I gotta go hunt for my kite, had it out drying and it's gone walk-about.....
