The link was almost ahead of it's time. It was to be rigid and would be efficient.BUT, it was too heavy with the materials available.Taking out the battens on the smaller kites would make them less efficient when they came to the luff zone or wind window and they would slightly stall, therefore making them more stable. Removing a centre strut on a delta kite is another example. The Rev had a lower aspect and sat deeper in the window, making it so stable, yet ot so good to unhook on, Then came the Octane, it sat more forward, it felt like a C-kite when unhooking, but it was a bit less forgiving. Kite design has its plusses and minuses....
