Hey,

Has anyone tried it?

We're looking at a couple of those 20-30 knot 'all-day' january days to try it. The plan is to stop at Yanchep after the first day to recover and then continue to Lancelin (finding all the secret wavespots along the way). We'll carry a mobile phone, EPIRB, drinks, food etc.

I was told that Ian Young may have done it previously?? Is it possible??

Cheers
Dan

Ian and a couple of others did it last season i think, if not definatly season before.

It is possible and it wont take a couple of days unless your going slow or so i am led to believe.

If your going to go let me know as i am super keen. Was actually planning on trying before Xmas.
Weekday would be best....

I saw a couple of guys doing it last year. I think they got to 5kms before Ledge Point on the first day so basically just kited around Lano the 2nd day.

In 2 days I think you could get to Wedge easy if the wind was typical.

I'm keen as well if you are looking to get a crew. have accom booked in Lano on 28th so will be able to get spare cars there for the ride home.

Graham Currie and I did 120km Fremantle to Lancelinon 7th Dec 2002 in 6 hours - could have been quicker in better conditions. Hoping for a crack at 300km to set world record this season

The boys and I aren't really out to set any speed records or anything...just a nice (& long) downwinder with some good waves...so it'd probaly take a little more than 6 hours.
Ive got a couple of exams and then a trip up in the northwest until the start of December. So we'd probaly do it around the middle of December.

Ian, what did you bring with you?

If anyone else is keen, I'll bring this topic up a week or two before we do it. Perhaps if some crew want to do it in one go and as fast as possible, there'll be a couple of groups.

Hi Guys,

My Instructors and a few others have done it a few times. They take a camelbak with 3 litres of water, some fruit, a few chocolate bars and Muesli bars etc and a mobile phone in a water proof Aquapac.

They do it in about 5-6 hours from Pinnas. It's best to do it on a "bow" or hybrid kite that has a huge wind range to allow for an increase in wind strength.

Good winds,
