What the? Can anyone explain why the seabreeze forecast is different from the BoM? Why does Wedneday's wind forecast have 20kn westerlies and 20kn easterlies in the same hour???
Got a 12m LINK to play with. Need some wind!!! It was only 8-10kn yesterday when we tried it so we need some serious wind to really know what its like.
Are you sure you're reading the arrow direction correctly?
The arrows are pointing right left, which means an Easterly, & the BoM say:
Southeast Coast Waters, Double Island Point to Coolangatta: [...] Wednesday: E'ly winds 20/25 knots. Seas 2.2 metres. Areas of rain. Thursday: E'ly winds 20/30 knots.
Looking at the charts, it's going to be easterly on Wednesday to Friday as the high pressure moves to the east. The change in direction of arrows on Thursday must be a glitch or something.
Yesterday we had 17 to 22 knt NE winds on the Sunshine Coast as that storm came in. Awesome session at Mudjimba. There was not much wind predicted for Brisbane. I mainly keep looking at the actual wind reading from Maroochydore. Looks like Adam had the same wind up at Noosa.
Wednesday arvo will be good for Maroochy River mouth.
Dont worry just a couple more weeks and the season will start. If you watching the evening news last night there was a story from BOM saying that our 'weird' weather has brough an early spring - we already have high fire dangers.
I've always found that the arrows on Seabreeze change more often then the forecast on BOM. So I think that seabreeze is a bit more accurate as far as latest forecasts is concerned. However...when there's rain or anything...It's ALL out of the window..just ignore it. Try keeping a track of the Synoptic charts and in summer watch the Air Temp...and Barometer. I like the temperature going up with the barometer going down :-)

Were not having a early spring in the wind but more in the temps. Typical wind for late August from ther early 80's to the early 90's were 2 or 3 storms at 7 day intervals that bring in new high presure systems with a small SE blow. August winds from the NE tend to be cool and the peak wind strength will be around mid afternoon and then the wind dies. In September the NE winds get hotter and the sea breeze gets more of a kick. The winds get stronger later in the day and the wind strength gets to it's maximum much later in the day but at the cost of a change in a more northen wind direction. The last 6 years of kiting for me have gone from totaly crap years to fantastic years with no real way of telling if a season will be good. So what I do now is stick my head out the window.
