I'v always wondered how exactly the forecast's on this site are formed.

are they a direct copy of what BOM has to say?
i think i speak for everyone that BOM can't be trusted, specially in the early seabreeze time of year.

Interesting 1 SM
Dont know how either come up with predictions but I followed both really closely for about 5 weeks late last season after noticing that they did vary quite a considerably at times. My conclusion was that they were often similar, especially when they were dead-on accurate. When they varied Seabreeze arrows were definately closer to the mark - the bigger the difference the more likely it was that the SB arrows were the best indicators. But when they did vary a lot it was more likely that neither prediction would be exactly right. Another thing I found was that BOM tended to be a lot more conservative - they seemed to take a middle-of-road line through any given day whereas the SB arrows followed the up&down trends more radically & accurately.
Perhaps Laurie might like to add a little enlightenment on this one

Checkout www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/help_forecast.asp for the full story! (There's a "Help" link at the bottom left of the graphs pages)

Seabreeze.com.au is always 100% accurate, its the actual weather that's inaccurate! Haha!

Enjoy .. Lozzzzzzzza

Hmmmm i see, interesting.
Computers are crap about foecasting seabreezes tho.
for instance according to the grap it was sposed to be E/NE all day here but it was S. You do a good job anyway Laurie

i actually did my work experience for school at BOM just to see what makes them tic hehehe

anyway i checked out all their seabreeze forecasting programs and played around with them for a while. There is no surpise that they screw up so often with seabreeze forecasts lets just say that.

Even though I KNOW that the forecasts aren't always right,I still get a buzz when I look at the 7 day forecast and see good wind predicted !

It keeps me motivated !

The problem with BOM is that they have to cover themselves in the event of nasty weather. Ever since the disasterous Sydney to Hobart race where several lives were lost.Court cases still going on.

All power to the seabreeze wind charts - 4 day weekend coming up and the forecast looks epic for Melbourne !

www.windguru.com is less complimentary and reckons that Sandy Pt is the place to be...I dont care - I got wheels.

Please smile on me Huey - I've been a good lad
