I havnt been into Kiting for very long, but one one thing that i did find with the gear, was the difference between the Waist Harness compared to the Seat. I originally started with a seat harness, upon my teachers recommendations, but was not entirely impressed with the way it behaved under the tension of the kite (finding it having the tendancy to pull my waist forward and up, making it hell uncomfortable and finding it just plain annoying), after switching to the waist (Mystic Darkrider) i was blown away at how much better it was.
Has anyone else found this with the harnesses?

You can boost bigger jumps with a seat harness ......no doubt about it ...

during my initial lessons, I found the waist harness pulled up and bruised my ribs. so I chose the seat harness. true if not adjusted correctly it can still hurt the ribs. but i've got those extra straps holding it down. Can't say i've seen too many seat harnesses out there.

The reason waist harnesses hurt noobs is because they doo them up so tight to prevent it from riding up and because they send so much time with the kite high it pulls up. Once you progress you can ride with your kite low and it will not ride up if your flying with your kite low and you dont have to have it that tight. Personal choice i guess but if it matters all the pros ride waist, choose what feels best for you there is nothing else that matters. Its not going to change performance in anyway really. Just to show my bias I ride wasit, Dakine Tabu, nice harness.
