This has always intrigued me...'The Secret Spot'? By no means is this thread trying to divulge any hidden wonderland coordinates, or produce any maps with an ‘X’. However I am curious how these exclusive sanctuaries are located. Is it an old scroll that is rewarded to you after you have clocked up enough hours on the water? Do you have to ‘chopper squad’ it down the coast until you see someone out...? Or is it simply just a matter of getting out a map and driving until you stumble across a prime piece of meat? Either way I thought it would be interesting to hear some crazy fence jump’n stories that involve a car chase at the end! Good Winds

The one secret spot i found was from some serious bush bashing. And climbing down stuff. I havnt surfed it yet, but when the time is right(will only work in certain conditions) its on. It was going off when i saw it, but no board. but seeing as this is about secrets,i may as well try and figure out the new secret method

Everybody finds a spot x.

It's that place you find when everybody's at work, the wind is at an unusual direction, the tide is perfect and the swell is magnificent.

You kite for hours all alone, go home and crash into bed with a grin that hurts your ears.

You only tell your best mate, then you wait.......and wait......and wait until the wind is at an unusual direction, the tide is perfect and the swell is magnificent.

You kite for hours with your best mate, go home....................

Heard a whisper from an old surfer about a place so I got in the car and checked it out. Pretty rough to get in but managed it.
2km downwinder all cross/cross-off (seabreeze) with 2.5m swell!
I've told a couple of people but not about to announce it to the whole world.

Just because girls won't touch it, doesn't mean is a secret.

We use the spot X terminology a bit on this forum. We got together used maps and local knowledge and found spots where people hadnt taken over in order to kite without crowds. The "popular" spots are overrun. Id much prefer to kite with my mates in a nice peaceful environment. As soon as you mention it once on these forums it will be like every other overrun spot.

Do fisherman tell you where there 'secret spot' is??

damn hard to keep a kite spot secret; you can see a kite flying from miles away, its like a giant neon sign in the sky pointing to where you are riding.

A fiver? That's a bit over-priced don't you think

Being "very new" to the sport I always keep an eye out for kites off in the horizon. I agree with Stamp, no place can or would remain a secret for long.

There is really no such thing as a "secret spot"

There are spots that are out of the way,or have fickle conditions that only a few people use. They like to refer to them as "spot X" or "secret spot"

I have a "spot X" that I kite at a lot. It gets epic sometimes when the conditions are right. Only a few kite there. I tell anyone that will listen about it because I don't like going out on my own because if anything goes wrong there can be problems. Do these people I tell come there? NO ! They all continue to go to a nearby popular spot, even though the conditions there are awfull !

Another reason to ride wakestyle... kite low = no visitors.
