I swopped the clip on cleat from the safety leash that clips onto your harness with the circular ring that is on the end of the 5th line i.e., the ring is on the safety leash and the clip is on the 5th line.
When I want to self land in a strong wind, I find a pole or a piece of fence and park the kite in the 90 degrees position and on the ground while I stand next to the pole or piece of fence. I then unclip the 5th line from the safety and release my chicken loop while holding the 5th line and pushing the bar out. I then wrap the fifth line once around the pole and use the clip to clip it in place. Alternatively, if I am near a fence, I clip directly onto the fence. The kite should be parking in the window on the ground. I then walk up to the kite and lay it down.

On weakish winds, I park the kite in the window and give the centre lines a yank. The kite usually turns over and lies down. I don’t like the ping off method as your kite generally lands hard and it probably isn’t good for it.

Self launch is like a bow kite launch.
Self land is fire the c-loop, with the kite on either side of the window, on a tip, on the ground. Or the c-loop can be released when the kite is at zenith, but this can cause the kite to hit the ground hard.
The kite will almost always end up LE down into the wind, then you just walk up and put sand or something on the kite.
If the kite goes upside down and hovers a bit off the ground then walk up the mini 5th and when you get to the fork in the front lines, pick one and wrap it once around your harness hook and then feed line onto the hook with one hand and pull it away from the hook with the other until you get to the LE of the kite.
I've never had a Core do the hover thing, but have had to do this with Cab IDS kites in stronger winds.

Core Combat GT's are very easy to self launch, relaunch, and self land.

How's the little 5m GT going? Have you had a chance to have it out in a decent breeze or is it still all crisp and neatly folded in it's back waiting for a gale?
