Planning on heading nth for a week in mid October looking for some sun and good kiting - thinking Shark Bay / Denham area.

Would appreciate any recommendations on kiting locations in these areas (looking for clear flat water if possible).

Also I've heard stories that shark bay is full of sharks (hence the name I guess) and sea snakes. Tell me this is an exageration !!

One important point, check the tide tables to make sure you have sufficient water for the afternoon seabreeze. I would also recommend booties as there are sharp shells in certain places which will or could cut your tootsies. The sharks are just small reefies and can be clearly seen sitting on the bottom and scatter as you zip over them. When the tide is in, it is shallow for quite some way out and it is the perfect place for beginners or if you want to try new tricks in safety. Enjoyyyyyyy!

Don't worry about the Tigers I've been hand feeding them now for the past two years and will attack on command. To ensure that you don't get eaten you must supply me with beer, lots of beer, imported expensive beer is good and I'll call the buggers off.
Seriously though, Denham is great, theres heaps of other places (hundreds)all over the peninsula but why travel when you can kite for 2 hours and cruise home in 5 minutes for a hot shower and a cold beer. Tides can be a problem, lows are pretty low at the moment, we sometimes kite in only 6 inches of water which is fun but you don't want to fall off. Chas is right about booties, theres razor shell, oysters, etc that will cut you up if you wipeout and its shallow.
Don't worry about the sea snakes we feed 'em to the Tigers!!

Yep, Flipper and friends are at the beach as we speak. Had 300 punters for the first feed the morning, look out here come the holidays!

We kite the Eastern Gulf (Monkey Mia) during winter when the se howls up the gulf, usually first thing in the morning and bloody cold too. If your coming up the road to Denham you can sus it out if the winds in and theres heaps of access tracks all the way thru. This time of year the Western Gulf is the go because of consistent sw, theres bays, spits and points all the way up and easy access tracks to the more popular spots. I don't really head out that way, Denhams unreal and I've usually got it to myself so no need to go anywhere else. Check the wind report for the next few days 20-30 ssw, things are lookin' gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

I'll be getting to Denham Sat afternoon, so I hope to get a late sale. Still up in Exmouth enjoying some amazing waves at the Lighthouse. Off to Sandy bay for an ultra flat session today.
