Hi, Does anyone have any details or recommend any places to stay around Shark Bay or Monkey Mia where other kiters might be hanging out? Im planing to get there around 25th April. Do you think there might be some wing there at this time?
Cheers,

Shark bay
is the most awesome place, for kiting or just hanging out. It rules.

This time of the year watch the graphs closely and plan on hitting Shell Beach in the easterlies in the early morning and then Denham later when a sea breeze comes in. If neither are happening, kick back and truly enjoy what a World Heritage area has the right to do...impress.

Oorright you lot heres the general rundown on the Bay of Noahs. Theres two of us who kite up here pretty much everyday, trying to geta few of the local crew into it and they're keen. Theres been a constant influx of Euros coming thru over the past 3 months, not heaps but enough to keep us amused and learn new S**t as well. Its all good!! Choicey's been coming up here for a few trips, bringing up newbies and they've been lovin'it. Denham is a really big bay thats about waist deep for over a k out and about 3-4 ks wide, so theres bucket loads of room and thats just Denham. Its all flat water and usually shallow, drop your kite, stand up, relaunch and get back to business. Theres literally hundreds of bays to choose from, so pick your bay for whatever wind direction and your on. We usually kite out the front of Denham. Normal day is: finish work, check wind on drive home from Monkey Mia, beach, rig, charge, sunset, beers, home, food, sleep then do it all again. This is sometimes broken up by going to the pub because there is a constant influx of backpackers coming thru to see the dolphins and then heading to Oral Bay and Sexmouth then Broome.
OK wind report.
Today was overcast and 20+ kts ssw at the end of the day, but you could have kited all day. Was out on my 14 last night, fully lit and lovin' life, just another day.
This weekends wind report.
15-20 se going ssw 20-25kts for Sat and Sun. This means that the whole weekend will be taken up hanging at the beach. Its all a matter of when you want to go kiting and getting the rest of your s**t done. F**k, how much time do you want spend on the water. I get to about 3 hours and I'm rooted. Its so cool cos I'll be kiting my 10 and its the BEST.
Hopefully the wind will hang in for a few more days then maybe just lull out for a few. Its getting late in the season so its hard to pick, just gotta be good to go and when its on charge it.
Early season up here howls, it starts in September and goes thru til March. Theres days up here when me and me mate look at each other and think about rigging 6's and 7's and decide that its not the time in life to die and go do some laps or something.
Downwinders:
Eagle Bluff to Denham, 20 k's of flat water joy.
Denham to Big Lagoon, hasn't been done yet, be about 15k's but I'm holding you to that one Choicey.
Pick a spot, get someone to pick you up and fricken go for it. There is sooo much flat shallow water up here its ridiculous.
Almost got to be the first kiter at Dirk Hartog Island, had my gear but had to get back to work, fully bummed. The possiblities are endless.
Waves:
Theres a couple of spots require 4wd's and full survival mode, I aint gonna tell ya cos I'll get shot, but if you surf these places rock. No ones kited ém yet and hopefully I'll beat you to ém, either that or you pick me up in sunny Denham and I'll guide you in.
Messages:
Gav, I think I met you down at the Gero Blast, I'm mates with Paul and Endo (Glen). Bruce Brislin has been hassling the S**t outa me to get a kite comp up here and apparently you've been feeding him info on a small comp. Gimme a call on 0409107456 cos it sounds like I'm gonna be involved (I just want to kite!!).Would be good to meet you anyway, the boys give you a good rap.
Gruezi: When you eventually make it up here to the Castle the daily entrance is beers on sunset. Bring up a grommet to pack up the gear and you'll be legend!! Oh, and ** for my elbows.
Puppet, get your arse up here, I still can't land back rolls (kook). So I just need crew going hard and I'll match ya's. Bring it on!!!!!!!!
Crew up here at the moment: Mike and Jackie from the UK, will be kiting with 'em all weekend, extend the hand of friendship to two really good people. great crew who rip!
I look forward to the replies.

I was up there a few weeks ago and it is an awesome place for kiting. The local crew (all two of them!!!! ) are spoilt!

Great place to kite and great people to kite with; you'll have a blast!

Went out at Pinnaroo the other day and my legs are killing me having to deal with the chop....ahhhh...lovely flat water.

speechless!! 20kms of downwind flat water. Thats just the kind of info needed.
A couple of questions:
Where would it be best to stay, Denham or Monkey Mia?
How can I organise a downwinder from Eagles Bluff to Denham bay? Would you guys be willing to do one?
Is there a kite shop/windsurfing shop in Denham or somewhere to get in touch with other kiters and organise a downwinder.
Can you recommend a cool place to stay in Denham or aMonkey Mia with a bit of a party atmosphere?
What about wind in early May?
Sounds awesome!

Accomodation in Denham
There is a fantastic backpackers - turn left when you hit the beach 3 or 4 doors down (forget the name) It has a range of styles from dorms to private units all serviced with pool/bbq/kitchen/laundry/internet etc. Cross the road to launch!
Blue Dolphin Van Park has on-sites & chalet rooms that would have to be cheap but you would have to walk 2/300 M to a launch area (bit remote !)
Theres a van park at north end of town thats right on the main kitebeach. Plus more - but thats all I know about (so far).
There is no exaggeration of conditions - this place is kite heaven - & there has been no mention yet of the lagoon !!!!
