shark anklets/bracelets with batteries are gay!

get the latest embedded shark repelling wetsuit that powers itself on your physical exertion

Shark Repelling wetsuit:

The new suit takes advantage of the fact that sharks have sensitive receptors in their snouts which detect electrical fields in the water. This helps them track prey, but if the field is too powerful the shark backs off.

Made of metal and neoprene in the usual way, the wetsuit has thin piezoelectric ceramic fibres woven into its fabric. The fibres extend along the body and limbs, connecting to metal electrodes which harvest any charge generated when the piezo material is deformed by the wearer's movement.

The voltage delivered by the fibres depends on their length and how many there are. During normal swimming, the suit continually generates several volts which flow through the water between the electrodes to create a deterrent field. If the diver sees an undeterred shark and swims fast to get away - a natural reaction, one suspects - the suit generates much higher voltages and stronger fields.

If the shark still fails to get the message and bites the suit, it gets a shock in the mouth and - hopefully - gives up for the day.

Disclaimer: if you wear boardies over your wetsuit the shark will go for your nads, as the boardies will weaken the signal.

on another note, spotted a couple of sharks at botany/brighton today. So dont go there to kite! its way too dangerous. and they looked real hungry. luckily I had my shark radar jammer on.

Because it starts with the feet.

Best protection is a sawn off shotgun

i rekon we should start some "fishing expeditions" and go vigilante style.

either that or order plenty of Flake.

No one has been taken by a shark while kiting yet. Can't recall many sharks able to swim at 25 knts.

It's a different story when you are body dragging though !!!!

how long an extension cord do you use? does it lose power the longer it is? do you use a safety cut off switch?

Sharks swim pretty damn fast:

Quote from www.elasmo-research.org/education/topics/p_shark_speed.htm

"The shark seemed to have no trouble keeping up with the towed array at medium speeds, so the researchers decided to accelerate to see just how fast the little Mako could go. From this experiment, Thorburne and Bhana estimate that the shark accelerated from a dead stop to cover a distance to the bait of more than 100 feet (30 metres) in just two seconds."

I recon you don't stand much of a chance if you'r on the platter you'r done for!

my personal vision that a shark saunters up and grabs you like cruising sharks in hollywood movies was shattered in a recant flyfishing trip to weipa a few months ago.
after hooking up a decent sized tuna and fighting it for 10 mins or so, i had it near the boat ready to net and release.
the tuna suddenly took off superfast leaving me bent over with the drag on my reel screaming.
a shark almost as long as our 16 foot polycraft went past our eyes chasing the tuna at such speed that i doubt you could kitesurf that fast!it quickly swallowed it's free meal.
i no longer have any fear of them. just awe.fast? sheesh
