Andrew, Cam and I went kiting yesterday at Wanda (yeah, I know it was rainy but windy). If it wasn't for the dead onshore wind we would have had a great time in the bigger waves that had formed yesterday.

I decided to finish my session after spotting a large shark fin about 30 meters ahead of me at the Cronulla side of the beach.

Andrew, who cam in a bit later than I did, spotted a shark (potentially the same shark) in the same area.

It was probably a perfect day for them to hunt. The water wasn't clear and the big waves were working as natural walls to close in on bait fish...

I know that we are in the middle of breeding season for Bull sharks, so they are more common in river mouths, estuaries and shallow water and a lot more aggressive and territorial than usual... keep your eyes peeled boys and girls..

tip: Do not spend too long body dragging for your board as you will resemble a nice big lure for a hungry shark.

Call them what you want. I can surely tell the difference between a dolphin and a shark.

Maybe they look similar in WA??? Or you guys don't know how to tell the difference since some of you don't even know how to spell....

You are lucky to have seen one of these beauties.........I'm always looking and looking everywhere, and have yet to see one. Even up in Shark Bay where all my fellow kiters were seeing dozens..........I didn't see one

I have seen them hunt live at Steep Point though.......respect.

If any of us spent as uch time on the water as Moritz we'd have way to many shark stories. I'm surprised that this is the first post I've seen from Moritz about seeing a shark fin. There out there and they out number us.

User, can you please send us an autographed photo of you. We might put it on a tree at our favourite kite spot so all NSW kiters can admire a non-pansy guy like you!!!

I think a lot of people do give a crap.... If there was no concern at all, why do lifesavers vacate a beach when a shark is spotted... Sorry mate, I'm not as brave as you

Did anyone see that bogan on the news titled "man bites shark" what a tool he caught and killed a 2m bull shark and there was a picture of him with a VB in one hand and biting the sharks fin! Is the bull not protected? Sharks are an integral part of the food chain and nature.

Consider shark spotting a rare treat, given that 50 Million are killed each year. True stat 50 Million sharks killed each year.

Mainly by japanese fisherman and West Australian jumping kiteboarders

Ask any local, its a well known fact that Wanda is a breading ground for large sharks, if I were you I would go to Dolls and kite there, its way safer. Especially on weekends.
