Hey - Saturday looks epic. Are we on for another 6K downwinder.

Last weekends effort was a ripper. I am still waiting for Simon to land and for Ben to reappear from the inside of the sandspit he leapt in a single bound. Am sure the punters sitting on the boardwalk near the Grand Hotel wondered what the f*** was happening when everyone charged down the narrow channel. Sensational.

Let me know if you guys are on. Its my last chance for a kite here before I head off to StMoritz SWZ, Lake Como ITA and the south of England for a month of kiting. It will be tough but I am prepared to do it. (purely for research of course)

Cool I could also tie four ski ropes together and tow Simon all the way there in the air. Just have to hope the ropes don't snap like the dude on the video

Yeah that would have to be one of the best downwinders ive ever had, so much fun kiting in around and over those sandbanks.

Looks like its goin to come through friday but could be SW - might have to head over the border or could you kite the inside of the pin in a SW?

Goog one guys, why don't we just let the whole of SE qld know, and australia know about this place. It was until you went and told everyone, the best spot in SE qld, cos you need a boat to get there. You usually had it uncrowed. BUT NO MORE, you just told everyone how to get there and where it is!!!!!
There goes is winter at the Pin. May aswell have invited all kiters in SE qld to have a day out there!! idiots!!! I'm sure you agree that it's not a spot for the inexperianced kiteboarder.
Go fly a kite!!!

Hey do.what.i.want.
I'm not that fond of crowds myself but how do you keep a secret spot unexposed. Kites fly at 30m elevation and the crew can see them for miles.

I was going to invite you 'do.what.i.want' but i think your boyfriend has your pink wipika free air. And just to help others out 1.you can kite 'swan bay'2ft deep and 3 football fields accross and dead flat, its at the southern end inside North Straddie till you run out of water, in a S/E to S/W. 2. on a northerly, kite the outgoing tide all over The Pin. 3. S/W to WNW kite The Keyhole (more water on the top of th tide. And if i forgot anything please feel free to add......

P.S Today is 'Mentally Disabled Day'please pass on your best wishes and prayers, as i have done for you 'do.what.i.want'

Yeah every kiter in Australia is goin to suddenly appear kiting at the pin. They'll all get boats and helicopters and fly out there so they can make this pretty average spot crowded all winter long, just to piss you off.
I can probably name a hundred spots good for kiting (in the right conditions) where you would be lucky if you see another kiter all day long........ get a map.

Why dont YOU look at your own post and stop telling people how good it is and how its usually uncrowded there?

everyone who kites in brissie knows about jumpinpin, its no secret. nigel teaches there in summer, so many students have had there first kite experience over there. the fact you need a boat to get there keeps most of riff raff away

another interesting spot that is largely left alone by the masses is horseshoe bay at peel island. kited there in summer with some of the wello regulars that have boats. i reckon there must be heaps of spots in moreton bay with awesome potential, it is, after all, a big place with a crap load of islands.

That's it boys I'm never kiting anywhere else ever again. Not only that but I'm going to round up 30 noobs and get them to start learning there. Oh bugger it I'll open my kite school there, lessons 7 days a week.

/Hmmmm... Guess I'll need to steal that boat now.

awesome! we could turn it into a real-kiteboarding style kite camp. name a few spots with catchy names like 'planet of the chimps' and 'the flats', add a slider park, and we're off! we could even get the schoolies in every year with free weed and booze (for us, that is)

Well it sounds like i have hit a nerve!!! Actually i think we discovered this spot about 5 years ago and had to otherselves for a good 3 years, until people started telling everyone about it. You should stay at your **** hole KFC. I have been kiting it for about 5 years now and it seems to be destined to become F***ed like the rest of the gold coast.
Regards Go fly a kite.

Go ahead and name some of the original kiters you rode with??. Most guys that were kiting back then progressed to riding the surf not just 'popping' over chop that you may call waves. They still love The Pin but are willing to share it.

Poor Relitive, so true! Iv allways said that 1hr of riding with your mates is better than riding 3hrs alone.

bondo and big dave, Fitzy goin to open a brothel there so if the wind doesn't blow at least we will!!!

ok flem it's 2pm Friday now, the seabreeze/bom are showing stuff all right now but the SW is supposed to be picking up all this avie and tonight then holding till mon or tues.

I'm waiting for my mate to arrive soon and we're going to check out wello. If it's rideable we'll give it a go. At least the damn sun's staying out for the first time this week!

I'll get back on tonight and let you know a/if it kicked in and b/if wello's ok in a SW.

Basically in QLD any Westerly means crappy or no kiting, offshore and/or gusty conditions. There are *some* spots that have a nice open run from the west and onshore conditions. Mostly they need a boat but some like pebble beach/bribie you can drive to.

gotta run we're off..
