Was just cruising through the windsurfing forum (yes.... im THAT bored) and saw a post about windsurfing at shelley..
I got the vibe that it was ok to windsurf there, so would it be a suitable place to kite aswell..
I also live in the vicinity, and it would be wicked to kite there without the congestion of melville or pelli.
Whats the go??
Yay or nay...

Go for it man and let us know how it is and when you did it.
I am always on the look out for new places, but I feel you may have gust issues and not enough wind there. Don't know about the water either.....looks murky.

I reckon it would not be suitable. Anywhere upstream from Canning Bridge has high hills and lack of launch/landing zones. Not sure about the bottom. My guess is that you would find it dreadfully gusty and too dangerous.
Perhaps try kiting the middle of Melville Water for an adventure instead.

I tried it once with someone else who shall remain anonomous. The forecast was 30kts, with 40kt squalls in thunderstorms, was a SW wind, not too cloudy in that area, and we launched at the park just upriver from salter point on the shelly side and kited out through the channel and back. yep it was gusty and on the 15 meter i was from just powered to powered to almost overpowered. throughout the taks, lasted about 30 minutes, and i was sh1t scared of getting eaten by bullsharks in that deep , murkey, water next to a major storm water runnof, and of getting impaled by all the sunken wooden fence posts around that area DEFINATELY NOT for beginners.
