I was out 26th June "Sat" arvo. Toward the end of the day I saw Dale and a few of his mates hauling a hugh slider down to the north bay at Woodmans Point. I know I'm going to sound like a **** for saying this, but read before you abuse as this could affect our fav spot.

My father inlaw is the CEO for fleetwood parks, they own woodies point & coogie beach caravan parks etc. I have asked him about the nature reserve that we all can our fav spot.

The only reason I bring this up is, I hope Dale and his mate's slider is portable and can be removed from water/beach; OR they have permission from CALM to place/house it there. If they find out or someone complains about it and it's not approved they could force the same may be even worse restrictions on Woodmans point.

Now seeing as I have purchased land down there to be closer to the water and one of my fav spots, if we get kicked outa there I'l be pissed for sure and I think a few other too.....

trust me I will not be bringing it to there "CALM" attention as I would love to try one, but It's just a thought for Dale and his mates.....

I'm not singling you out Dale, Its just you're the only one i recognised from the water.....

Hey Dale, be sure to have a medical team on standby when you see me racing towards this slider. I'll wax it up so I don't loose any speed, and also to keep my deck schmick.

Dude I think our mate at the top has a good point. You can go around with your head in the sand OR get opinion from others. You guys gotta get it, that we are in the middle of trying to SAVE our kiting beaches from BANNINGS. Maybe give this POSTER a bit of credit and consider his reason for posting. If you guys are THAT selfish your little slider is that HOT and important, you will get us kicked out real soon. Maybe just consider what he has said, and that CALM , may be pissed off WHEN , because they will discover Ya slider one day. We are spending ALOT of our own time at councils helping our sport. Just be a little bit less reactive and take on a few other opinions. Maybe he has a REAL valid point.

All I can say is that if the progression of this sport is on anyone's mind then what are you all worried about? It's all in the open now, with people expressing interest on this forum I'm sure a positive outcome is possible. Dale and his friends have gone to some effort and personal expense to provide the rest of us with a new angle on our sport.(credit due). Personally I'm gagging to to have a bash at some sliders, knowing how much fun they can be (and pain) having jibbed my way accross New Zealands southern alps last year. pow pow! Lets's make this happen. Fear of losing your local spots is not a reason to bag sliders. Get involved. Make some calls if you have contacts(Pseudonymous). It's all good fun.

mate what you have over east is of no importance to us over here in Perth. Yeah everyone will read this post as its a forum to discuss matters like this. If any members on this forum are from CALM thats great as they can give some info/feed back about the correct way to approach this.

When I saw it being carried out to the beach with 4 guys carrying it in bits, the main slidder and two tressel legs.

Smart Idea or not Dale, how long do you realy thinks its going to last before one of the local residents who live in the area notice it sticking out of the water or dunes when not in use.

appologise for using your name but as i said your the only one i recognised from the water that day.

by the way you've written your reply it sounds like no one important does know your crew has irrected it down there, which again could cause us grief with the council.

dont me wrong I'm not against the slider being there at all as I too would love to learn to ride one. I also commend your crew for taking the time to build one, as it looks well made.

Like I said before Gstar, I'm not baggin sliders at all, I think they look realy fun. However I will be getting behind the project If dale and his merry men take the lead as they placed it down there. I fear if i use my contacts it could lead to it being removed as my contacts are very protective of their beach.

apologie accepted psedo, its a bit rough to have your name sprayed everywhere on the net, next time use your disecretion a bit.

The east coast are miles ahead in that they have sliders and kickers all over the place, we need to follow suite and do the same, we need the sport to go ahead-not backwards. sliders and kickers are are a thing of the future in kite boarding, not just sailing around hooked in all the time on flat water.

we need to get this off the ground, keep it positive.

dont lecture me on discretion dale, take responcibility for your actions.

the east coast may be miles ahead but they have been banned from lots of beaches, do you want this to happen?

to follow suit, yeah right, I think they said that about bindings, and anything else that was new. its not the "WAY forward" it's just another diection to go, it's called diversifaction, it adds another element to kiting. I suppose your going to call everyone who doesnt share your ideas a kook, uncool?.

Who rides around hooked in all the time?, who ride in flat water all the time?. Who are you to say whats right or wrong or who's cool or not, thats like saying everyone with long hair is a girl....who am I to say that as its simply not correct is it.

I agree we need to get it off the ground, but i think this may be the wrong way to go ahead. Lets all get together with WAKSA and do it the correct way, not the young impetuous way.

WELL ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS SPORT IS GONNA SUCK SOON COS IT IS GONNA BE STRUCK WITH BOUNDARIES.
NEXT WE WILL HAVE TO SIGN A FORM BEFORE WE CAN SIT OUR KITE ON THE SAND.
NOT BLAMING ANYONE IN PARTICULAR, BAR THE DOO-GOODERS THAT HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN WALK ALONG THE BEACH DURING THE DAY AND COMPLAIN THAT THERE IS SOMETHING NEW HEAVON FORBID IT.
I DO SEE UR POINT ALSO PSUDOSOMETHIN AND IT IS VALID.
DOES CALM HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SAY YES OR NO?
UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE DOOMED COS I CAN SEE IF ONE OF US RINGS AND ASKS THEY WILL MAKE IT A RULE WHETHER THERE IS ONE OR NOT.

IT JUST PUTS MORE POINTS ON MY CHALK BOARD TO MOVE AGAIN OUT OF THE CITY AND TO THE MORE RELAXED LIFESTYLE OF THE COUNTRY TOWNS WITH BETTER BEACHES AND LESS RESTRICTIONS.

oh yeah i forgot, if your slider is portable to the point you can taker it home with you at night dale then I have no arguement at all and I dont think anyone would care. The only point was if it were to sit down there permanently.

I don't see how a slider will affect the enviroment I guess sea birds can s**t on them when no ones using it.
I see a few boats floating in the water that don't get used whats the difference.
Boat owners own the ocean they take up all our kite room kill the enviroment steal our beaches from us just because they are 2 lazzy to take them home.More room for pulic more room 4 kitesurfers everybodys happy

Nothing more to add on the subject except I really don't understand how 6 meters of plastic pipe and some wood off-cuts can generate so much interest. Talk of restrictions on beaches is flavor of the the month at present. Putting your kite into oncoming traffic at Cott, now that's a way to get our beaches some bad press.(personally witnessed on 2 occasions). Having responsible kiters like myself, Ryland, Leon and Dale add some flavor to the local scene is only us, expressing our positivity and commitment to a sport that shapes our lives...and I suspect all of yours.

pseudonymous, you are obviously an issue motivated tosser , to think that any1 is going to give a **** , what happens at woddies 100metres from the car park no where near a populated main beach?, I mean fine if kites are landing on roads, bathers are almost getting decapitated by lines from careless kiters then fine, you can see why it has been banned there. ?

But to say some crap out like "if calm find out" bla bla bla your suggesting that it would be illegal to put a slider in anywhere in the water. how many ppl are there swimming in the water near the slider?? none? then i guess that would mean there'd be noone to get hurt or to tell calm right , except maybe your daddy if that's the real reason you've posted this nonsense , and if they did calm would probably fall over laughing " umm theres a white bit of pipe in the water, its sitting there and looks very very dangerous , someone could get killed , im in the middle of no-where in cockburn sound", i guess he thinks his land value will go down with an ugly looking hunk of pvc in the water ,

and to clarify , I kite in Newcastle , and Nobbies beach as in the main beach in newcastle 200 metres from the bathers , in the good part of the spit , they have no probs , we aren't banned there ! , and as a matter of fact i don't know anywhere within 150 kms of there that has a kitesurf banned beach. sliders go out everywhere and some are taken in so they don't get pinched. But your the first goodie tooshoes that has managed to try and take a spot and make the kiting experience there miserable. Better get the slider in caus calm might find it , its ok to put it in and bring it out , but if you leave it, u could ban us?? all of us , they have the power ! class action against kitesurfers.

The sport was and still is awesome , and the more people try regulate it , the worse it gets. If i were you i would have Pm's or emailed dale and told him your genuinely worried, but you obviously wanted to make an example of him , so , i made an example of what a load of crap you've speeled off.

the sport may get banned from people injuring people but not from a piece of pvc . and if it does , we can try get bathers banned from beaches for putting up those pvc umbrella's on the beach , same thing!

Unfortunately we live in a world where nothing is free from regulations and rules. Most are made up from people that have either nothing better to do or have seen something that was seemingly innocent turn into tragedy. Everyone has different views and getting on at each other about them makes us as petty as the people who think of the rules in the first place. If someone KNOWS and has experience then voice it if it's gunna cause problems for all of us or get us banned but until then ..........each to their own.

I too was once 22 years old, young, dumb and full of cum like you dachopper. You completely missed the point havent you. Your mouth opens before your brain kicks in, bet your parents have said that a few times to you....hum?

I dont give a **** about a 4 meter length of white PVC pipe placed in the water. I am not telling you what to do; or where to place the said length of PVC pipe. I will care unfortunatly if you or any other person happens to ride the slider and ****s them selves up on it. Dont give me some **** that "oh were too good for that, it will never happen" I've seen many a proathelete eat **** before your time.

The reason I do give a **** is for the future, the baron isolated cockburn sound is about to become Perths newest marina playground. Well know for its pristine waters and awsome views, the price of land and its premium is set to rise. Yes I have purchased land very close to this area as I wanted to be closer to the water seeing woodies is my fav spot. The old folk in the area have a lot of pull with CALM and the town councils, just like the ones at cott, a few miles north.

Kiting in Perth is growing at a fantastic rate however were not doing the best we could be to advertise the fact it's here to stay as one of the most spectactular sports to hit the planet.

now to quote Gstar:

quote:
Talk of restrictions on beaches is flavor of the the month at present.

this is not just happening to us in Perth, its happening everywhere around the world. This looks bad to the people were trying to convince that its a great sport.

this brings me full circle to my original point, I hope the young guns who want it there have obtained permission from CALM or the council who presides over that area.

Just on a side note can someone tell me whats that white stuff thats being dumped into the water on (or near) the jetty - on the north side?

Went down to woodies last weekend for the first time *cough* *newbie* *cough* had a great session, but was wondering if that stuff was toxic in any way coz my lungs and sinuses felt as though they had been thoroughly cleaned (with oven cleaner).

I noticed for a few meteres out that the ocean floor was covered in the stuff too...

Any ideas -maybe pseudo you can ask ur calm friend?

There is a dredging factory on that jetty. Think it's all sand, I was out sat, the water right around the point was stired up, looked like it was all the sand from the factory ?

well in my opinoin it's a free world and if anyone wants to ride the slider it's fine , CALM will not bann kiting , they may say take the slider out if enough ignorant 40 year old, rich , influencial , old school , snobyy , i paid for this view and it's now wrecked **** stirers winge enough , but thats fine , then take it out. And if you think your gonna get hurt on the big bad slida and your too scared , then stick to sucking lollie pops! Don't bring all the people that make this sport advance down to your no frills , 100% safety , forwards and backwardsing on the water

I must be dumb , caus i don't remember saying that we wouldn't get hurt, maybe your dumber for realising you can say "no" thats too dangerous for me , I'm not going on it. You'd be better off trying to lower local speed limits to 40 than banning sliders, caus more people die from car crashes than sliding

Now your finally understanding my point...you dont have to agree with my point. CALM cannot ban kiting, they can only place restrictions on area's. The funny thing is, I gather from the tone of your post's, you think I'm against the slider being there, I'm not. I've just seen whats happend to a lot of perth riders fav spot, cott. All I'm saying is, it would be better to seek approval first than to have to argue later, when it could be too late. Also I respect your opinoin that you think it's a free world, i wish i still had your rosy colored glasses, but from my experience it's not....it time you will see young jedi....hummmm

Good One Dale - l'gmao
Suggestion - if your having problems with your big white stick why not write some nos. on the side, throw a paddle inside it and register it as a boat (you could call it 'sss old no-name')
Then you can anchor the f*****g thing anywhere you like.
And if it happens that you slip off it (as in from one end to the other) when you attempt to get on board to drop your kite ? ? ? .. well you will just have to try again .. and again .. and again .. and again ... until you get it right
Im sure by the time you grow up you will be able to kite slow enough to stop right on it an paddle home properly
Stick to your (young) guns & ignore the crap - you long haired girl you (chuckle chuckle)
