I'm looking at building some sliders etc. in my local area.. my trouble is that the only decent spot that's not super populated with swimmers and general public is a lake... this lake is on crown land.. We do currently kite on this lake as it's predominantly only a foot or 2 deep with no complaints, quiries or hassels from interested partys.. BUT.. my theory is.. if I place a small structure there like a nice rail without a permit/approval.. a bucket load of do-gooders will start waving there arms…!!

My question is...
Is there an easy way to get approval to place these small temporary structures... there are obviously heaps around AUS... so how did you guys get around the Red tape... or is there no easy way... most likely 6-12 months of correspondence... happy to hear any thoughts...

Basically your are looking at crown land which will be hard to get anything in there. Building something without a permit will get kiting banned from use in the area.

After studying conservation and land management, Ive learnt to look at things in a different light. They wont see the fact that its awesome fun and simple. They will look at how it will degrade and effect the water and animals, the types of people it will attract and how it will affect the local environment. Also another big thing is public liability. If the ramp or structure starts to deteriorate and someone gets hurt, well who ever approved it will be in the firing line and they don't take this too lightly.

For the record i no longer have anything to do with conservation, So many dim witted people in the industry

Just make them removable and take them away each session.

Make them removable that float. Or make them heavy and sink so u can hide them under the sea or
Either put them in and take them out when its not windy like most people (HUGE EFFORT NORMALLY JINXES THE WIND MASSIVELY ASWELL)
Also ask ur kiting "crew" if its ok with them and please tell them to remove there fins otherwise they die aswell as ur sliders/kickers..

Otherwise u can put yellow fluro vests on with ur councils name on them hard hats and put ur structures in and no body should question it?

any really dense bushes around its not hard to hide a rail we hid one in metro melbourne that was use for skimboarding for a hole summer before it was taken away

I'm all for building sliders, my best bit of advise is get mates that'll help you build the thing, make sure you have transport figured out for every single time you want to use it, and never leave it out where the public can get their hands on it.

You'll find nobody will want to pack it up when you're finished, nobody will want to help you transport it to wherever you want to keep it, and if you stash it in the bushes bogans will undoubtedly come along and use the wood to make a fire, or steal the 50 or so 20L containers keeping the slider afloat in the middle of the bay.

Plenty of past experience here.
