OK well new season.. time for a new kite.

My decision is between the 09 Rev or 09 Fuel
Im verging on being advanced..
90kg.

Rev.
Speed kite, lots of power, good depower, big wind range, easy relaunch

Fuel
Speedy, lots of power, good depower, not so big wind range.


I would rather ride a fuel because of the turning, and stability. It is really good for unhooked tricks and unhooked riding. But on the down the relaunch is a bit harder and the wind range isnt as good..

Then again the rev is excellent. different attachment points are good. good relaunch.. not as good a feel as the fuel and unhoooked.. big wind range. bigger re-sale price

Which one.. average conditions are 13-20 knots.. im thinking a 13 rev or fuel?

Must admit I haven't ridden any of the latest fuels. I still own a 2005, but the wind range and sweet spot is very small. It's a compromise I guess. I ride an 08 Rev at the moment and I think it's pretty good for unhooked moves.

Probably say if you have the money and your progression is freestyle/wakestyle then go the Fuels. Problem of course is you need 2 C's to fill the range of 1 Hybrid. Hence the compromise, a little less feel perhaps but you only need one of them.

if you are getting towards being an advanced rider you should be looking at kites based on performance for your riding style. things like relaunch are minor considerations. go the fuel

get one of each, a fuel to cover most conditions and a smaller rev to take out when its nuking so you have the depower.

Fuel sounds the go.

I owned fuels from '03, '04, '07 and '08 and you cannot compare the depower on the '04s and '05s to the newer ones.

You won't get a massive wind range from the Rev if you are unhooking. If you can afford it I'd add a 9m fuel for when it's windy as well.

So from what i gather.. the new fuels wind range has been improved quite substansially..

Im thinking of going a 2 kite quiver. a 13 and a 9 fuel would be sick..
It would cover almost the wind range of the same size in rev's.

Re-launch isnt really a problem.
