So who's up for a bit of snow kiting this year? going to head up with the Kite Republic crew and give it a bash, in the words of Bart Simpson "what could possiblr go wrong".

Hey never snow kited but walked to the top of Kosi in summer a few years ago and from the top of Crackenback Chair in Thedbo there is SOOO MUCH back country !!

As I was hiking out all I could imagine is snowboarding with a kite across that area - woo hoo!

And then I think back to the skiing conditions - windy and white out,, or clear blue and still :(

So how many days out a typical 7 day holiday in the snow do peeps get to actually kite on average??

It would be awesome but finding yourself 20 km away from home and the wind drops ( or becomes balistic) as it seems to do in the mountains would be a bummer!!

never gone for only a week but on snowkiting trips to norway we only were able to kite 50% of the days at the col in france little less may have gotton more days out if we just took a chance headed out to kite instead of going snowboarding

and as you already know any kite based holiday is just a roll of the dice with regard to wind/weather

that said it is the greatest fun i've ever had with a kite

what sort of winds do we get in the snow spots here?

From several trips over the last decade, I've only had reasonably kiteable conditions about 1/3 of the time - so either 1 trip in 3 (not good) or for a week long trip, about 2 days in 6. Depends whether you're feeling lucky.

I'm going to give it a go, I'm always at Perisher, hopefully there's a spot not too far from the resort but well out of the way of people and lifts.
Where are you going?
