Negative--not if you're planning to stay on the island the whole time.

I stayed at Soniasali about 2 years ago and lugged my gear all the way there and paid through the nose for excess baggage only to find that the island is well protected from a southeast wind.

There are a couple of places that you could head out to from there if the wind is blowing. There is a sand spit off of Plantation??? island that would be unreal if it;s still there, but you would have to hire a boat to get you out there.
there's also Sigatoka River which would be about a 45 minute drive which the resort could organise. Either way, it's most of the day to have a kite rather than leaving the wife to sunbake for an hour or so while you step off the beach for a blast. So, I guess it depends on how keen you are and how understanding she is.

Of course, I could be completely wrong and was just super unlucky with the wind over the time period I was over there. Either way, the resort is nice and the food fantastic and plentiful.

Under the thumb on this one, would be fine if i didnt have to leave the island though.
