Kurnell can handle the wind but you've got oyster covered rocks, urchins, and these big things that will slice the **** out of you if you get dragged over them. You can go boat harbour. It's deeper water and you don't have to worry about rocks until your at the very northern tip of the beach.

It's going to be gusty wherever you go though.

Given that south westerlies are always a "little" gusty to begin with, both of these places get a bit dodgy for launch and landing especially of you are on your own (not recommended)

The trees at Frenchman's give nice uplift ready to loft unsuspecting noob kiters that get too close to and/or on the beach into and/or over the trees into the park. If you kite Frenchman's do not stand around on the beach with your kite in the air.

Watch out for the boat moorings, boats, windsurfers, rocks and the tv antenna on top of the cafe.

Also the "locals" have been know to permanently borrow things from your car by breaking the window.

good to see you are still riding the spot where you lost your cherry Col, ya big galah. As for me I am enjoying awesome spots by myself and dread the thought of having to go back to the reality of near misses and limited places to ride due to bans being put in place. As for South westers the place I ride now is almost as good as it gets. Take it easy and keep those pink feathers preened.

Yarra and Frenchmens are nowhere near the airport runway. You are much closer to the open sea. The worst that can happen is being lofted into the graveyard and that would save you burial costs anyway. The Lappa side of Botany Bay is really only suitable for experienced hardcore kiters. If your experience has only been on the Brighton/Dolls ,Kurnell side or Wanda Beach then the Lappa side is not for you until you have gained a lot of experience in cold gusty winter winds

Good to see you are getting good kiting down there Sean. We have been a bit starved of wind up here. Hopefully a nor'easter on saturday will fix that.

To clarify - they are both downwind and off to the side of the airport in a SWer
