Did anyone get any Of the dozen or so people I know who had work off today to get tickets none got any. What a load of BS! I was in the queue at 0902 only to be kicked out. Each time i got back in the queue it had doubled and i would only stay in 5 - 10 mintes before being bumped out again. By 0945 it was impossible to even get in the queue. BS, f@#kin BS There's my rant for the day. Hope some kiters were lucky enough to score.

This has been edited by now. A few hours ago it included the home and at a later stage mobile phone numbers of George Hindmarsh, the head of Ticketing Solutions Pty Ltd (oztix.com.au). In a later version it mentioned a crew of Newcastle Uni students planning a mass fence jumping. There was a suggestion to call George this evening while he's having dinner to discuss the useability of the system. This is how it was at one point:

2007 Event Ticketing System
As the Splendour In The Grass festival has increased in popularity, the problems associated with the purchase of tickets have also done so. Customers were able to purchase tickets to the event over the phone or on the internet through affiliated ticket company Ticketing Solutions Pty Ltd, trading under the name as oztix.com.au. Tickets went on sale at 9am Monday 14th May; by 10:30am, the Splendour In The Grass Oztix page had received 390,000 hits with many problems occuring due to overflow of site traffic.

The Internet purchasing method enabled customers to have a place in a queue and purchase tickets once they had moved through the queue to the virtual ticket counter. This emphasised the "first come, first served" basis that Splendour officals decided to implemented this system with.

As customers progressed through the virtual queue, problems with browser settings and timeouts meant that the server began to kick people out of the queue who legitimatley should have still stayed there. These problems caused a large amount of emails to be sent to Splendour ticket support, which in turn, flooded their system and cause even longer delays in the ticketing process. The telephone system also shat itself and everyone who tried to call got f$&*@ed over and experienced the engaged tone.

Numerous potential festival-goers have been said to have lost their minds due to the lack of suitable booking services. Some people have also begun to scream from lack of communication between OzTix and festival goers, resulting in many a disgruntled fan. The queuing system has been under much criticism, one disgruntled fan saying "It's just not cricket".

The Sydney Morning Herald described the 60-second wait in the 'Virtual Waiting Room' as "fruitless... this (Splendour ticketing online) has brought down the Australian economy... with many patrons on a Monday morning opting to wait 60 seconds at a time and clicking the link to begin another cycle in favour of working".

At 12:00pm on Ann Street in Brisbane, QLD, hundereds of patrons who missed out on a ticket began to riot in the street outside the Ticketing Solutions Pty Ltd headquarters. Rioters smashed their way through the front foyer and into the board room, only to find a note reading "Thankyou for your patience, please do not hit refresh or we will kick you in the balls. Please wait 60 seconds until trashing this office."

George Hindmarsh is the head of Ticketing Solutions Pty Ltd and has invited angry rioters to contact him on his home phone number preferable at 8:00pm tonight as he is having dinner. This is his number: --------- GP edit - not my place to go posting that sort of info.

sweet i got 10. On ebay now kids.

jk

obviously if there is less tickets then people wanting to go then some are going to miss out. No matter how good or **** the system is.

If the system worked and all tickets got sold out in the first 3.5seconds and u missed out, you would still be having a sad.

What does this whole thing highlight?

That so called alternative non main stream music is more popular then popular music!

here goes rant:

worst ticketing system ever. they have had the same problems for the last 3 years, and have been too greedy to fix them properly, or pass on the responsibility to ticketek or other companies who deal with this level of demand regularly.

my group of 6 had exactly the same problems mentioned. we were online from 8.30, did exactly as we were told, but kept getting 'bumped'.
we have been loyal splendourbenders for the past 5 yrs, but this has left a pretty sour taste... given what they are charging this yr for tickets, and booking fees (!), you would think they could get this right.

there will be fencejumping... but suspect next few yrs they will have to either totally upgrade the ticketing system, or adopt more glastonbury-style measures and go for a ticketing lottery.

oh well. just imagine how much poorer we will be when the next lineup is announced...

i've heard that this will be the last year at Belongi Fields before they move to a larger site. Hopefully this will mean more tickets and a new ticketing agent. Probably wishful thinking though

Looks like a colony of flying foxes as all the kiddies fly over the fence after dark. Take your kite attach glow sticks and sail over the fence; everyone will think you're just part of the show. Last year the booking web site melted as well. I got mine a few days after. Don't hold your breath for a change of venue, there will be court challenges to the land rezoning.

our crew have gone to splendour every year since it started(6 years).

All of us have missed out this year and are pretty pissed off about it.
Hope the wind blows all that weekend to make up for it.

whatever happened to buying tickets at the gate on the day, sure it has it's own problems but these modern solutions are only causing more grief anyway.

anyway back to the real topic, what sort of kite should one boost over the fence with, a foil, a bow or a C?

I think they have sniffer dogs for foils though!!
On another note they usually release more tickets for anyone with a local address at a later date. I've heard of a folded $50 working on the sunday, instead of a ticket to.

I jumped the fence at the blues fest a few years ago as all the tickets were sold out. It was the extra high section of about 5m and I had a few too many drinks. I fell off the top of the fence and landed on the concrete bit that holds it up and totally smashed my face and knee and dislocated my toe (it was pointing straight up). I did get in and watched 1 song but I ended up going back out the front gate to the admin where they called an ambulance and I went to hospital.
