Dongara first check with Andy for info on that spot, then take the turn off and do the coast road down thru:
Green head big waves on the outer reefs (fair way out) sharks and flys
Jurien, you have done the comp there so you know the score.
Cervantes, well I am up there this weekend so will fill you in on that latter, super flat water and an open beach break with waves on the reefs behind the islands if you are game. Popular spot with windsurfers.
In between you have 100’s of kms of coast to play in. Heaps of little tracks lead off to the coast between the major towns it tends to be fringing reef 2 km out so the bays are flattish choppy water and heaps of weed (seaweed) on the beach.

Then if you have 4wd take the coast track thru grey and wedge to lano, beach breaks, the odd reef setup and some flat water and bush camping.

Big coast much more than woodies and Cottesloe on offer……..we are so so lucky….

Hi Dan,

Hope you are well! One of my favourite spots is Hangover Bay - very close to Cervantes. Here you have flat water on the inside an a few waves to play on out the back. A 4x4 is helpful but not necessary - well we did it in the bus last year!! If you do have a 4x4, make sure you check out Wedge just past Lano. I have only been windsurfing there but positive it would be an awesome uncrowded place to kite.

Hope to run into you soon (i am a working girl now)and congrats on your overseas mission.

dongara has plenty to offer south beach, the point and the harbour before the season starts then out of town north is seven mile with reefs out the back and flat waters on the inside. when are you thinking of going cause i used to live there and could show you heaps more.

JJD the story with Hangovers is if you have 3m swell on the coast, hangovers will be 1m. the waves are perfect for jumping and a nice shape to ride but you need to be about 2foot tall to find anything over head..
there is a couple of reefs to choose from , i like to ride the sothern most because it is very clean, but SHALLOW!
the next reef a little more north gets a bit bigger but is also a bit choppy on the out side . The best waves are behind the island off Thirsty point, super shallow, and can be quite pitching, plenty of seals around ..... and there preditors too..
its the kind of place you need to have a boat and a good helmsman to keep it real.
