I reckon St Kilda kiting sucks...my mates reckon its great. We tend to agree on almost everything else - i.e. kiting is the ducks nuts, beer tastes good, crop tops only cut it on a Size 8 etc

Tell me why you reckon St Kilda Sucks or Rocks. My pet hates with it are:

- beginners by the bucketful in summer (nothing against beginners, just dont like kiting next door to them)
- boats
- mooring buoys
- gusty wind over breakwater
- too far from the water for a rig-up
- odd syringe found on the beach
- gusty conditions next to the pier the exit is a rock wall
- and my PET hate - pay for parking !!!!!

Apart from that its just wonderful

hey plow, if you want to keep the beach relatively clear, just rock up in your g-string like you threatened to do in the harness thread.. should empty the beach fairly quickly i would think

The G-string idea doesn't work.

It just attracts for of the topless babes closer to you rigging spot.

I think they feel safe around gays.

I try to avoid St kilda for teaching at, due to the congestion, but still enjoy it in the inner harbour.

As you reach into the pier at the ferry landing that rock breakwater the other side does something to the wind that really gives you a boost.

You feel almost like a pro as you look down on the tourists on the pier with their cameras firing.

But the water tastes crap and the crowds are an accident breeding ground.

best winds

G-String on backwards ... hmm .. I think thats called a squashed frog.

An alternative would be to wear it higher & call it an A-String. (Apologies to The Goodies)

So far the count is....

1 - undecided
1 - grandstanding
1 - chatting to his mate; and
1 - obscure

I reckon thats about normal for a SeaBreeze posting

Bondo - GET BACK TO WORK...software developer my G-String'ed ass!

they made me do UA testing this week - i feel so cheap and dirty

anyway, back to st kilda - i would have thought used syringes on the beach would be a bonus. should keep the kids away, and it means one less trip to the clinic should you find one...

So long as they paid you Developer rates...UAT is for failed programmers

Yeah the used syringes are great, especially if you want a quick squirt of Horse to get your kiting to the next level...personally I think Charlies far better - but the salt water stings my rotting septum.

have your septum removed - you'll get more throughput on each snort

Nice one azza - maybe it cound be BEST's new kite - The Snort.

Kited St Kilda today with a few mates. The flat water of the "pond" was alluring. Just to add to the weight of evidence against it being a good spot...

Large dead rat on foreshore...had obviously been drinking the water !

I thought the dead washed up rat (from Chernoble based on it's size) lounging in rotting putrid seaweed at the water's edge was a nice touch (The one Bondo and I didn't realise we almost stepped on).

If you compare St Kilda to other kite spots around the country it is pretty average.

But hey - if you live in the area, have no other transport and are keen to bust out there when the wind is blowing - it's a happening spot !

I think it's all about attitude and not lattitude.

Just to be out there and doing it should be the overriding factor.

yeh the dead rat and foul stench were pretty special, not to mention the mounds of rubbish at the waters edge. makes you want to avoid copping a mouth full of seawater (sewerage?) after a big spill

I reckon therefore the consensus is....

It sucks when it doesnt blow

Of course it is better than not kiting at all & I am sure that there would be plenty of Euros about to shiver through a winter kiting through icebergs that would give their left aggot to be on St Kilda Bch in summer.

Personally though - the locals can have it. I'll be heading up and over the Melb coat hanger, past the oil refinery and toxic lake and onto the best damn little kiting spot in Melb. Until I move there for summer that is
