Just pulled out an old 220 stonker directional that I used in the early days of my Kite school.

pulled off the straps and am set to hit some waves.

Does anyone know if I'm heading for oblivion or does it work?

G'day Tony
Once when I was up at Smiths lake near Forster I used one as a surfboard for actually surfing, it was ok bit hard to turn thats all I noticed, but I am a rusty surfer.
If you mean for unstrapped kitesurfing, it will work, but you might find there are much better designs now like the 06 Naish 5'2"
Or some of Stu Martins boards??

The old school stonker boards are the bomb - the ULTIMATE light wind board, and the even surf (old school paddle in stylee) quite well if you take out the straps and some of the fins
