Sundownerholidays.com 2007 Kitesurfing Wave National Championships

Venue: Port Macquarie, Mid North Coast, NSW

With 64 competitors signed up for the event and awesome locations to ride everyone is in good spirits for some serious competition and great times with friends. The level of riders attending is high and we will be seeing some great moves over the next few days.

Thursday: What an awesome day! 15-20knot N'Easters all day. 3-4foot waves saw great riding and everyone amped to get on the water and strut their stuff. Youth and Womens got on the water first followed by the Opens and Masters. We managed to get through the full single elimination rounds in all 4 divisions and the results for the finals of the single elimination rounds are:-

Open 1Aaron Jarman 2Stuey Martin 3Ryland Blakeney 4John Messenger
Masters 1Sean Phillips 2 Peter Gallop 3Ash Woolley 4Kevin Johnson
Youth 1Andy Yates 2Daniel Smith 3Scott Johnson 4Lloyd Wakewood
Women 1Theresa McKirdy 2Ange Van Hoof 3Michelle Blinkhorn 4Michelle Pulcins

The forecast looks the same for tomorrow when the double elimination repercharge rounds will begin. This means the above finals results only stand if the full double elimination rounds are not completed. But with the forecast looking great for the next few days it appears the winners will have to work hard to defend their top spots.

The level of riding is incredible and the vibe is awesome...off to TG's tonight for celebrations and back into it tomorrow...stay tuned
Cheers Emma..

Wednesday: Light NE winds and 3 foot waves at Middle Rock Lake Cathie (15 km south of Port). No heats run due to light winds but around a dozen riders out for for a free ride session in the late afternoon. A great night out with our sponsor Hogs Breath Cafe and afterwards with a couple of the usual suspects disapearing to a well known Karoke Bar.

Thursday: Prediction of 15 to 20 knots of NE and perfect Blue skies the competition should get underway.

More news as the comp progresses.

Marine, I was surprised to not see you there - you would have had fun!

I went up yesterday but was late so missed my heat, but good to see everyone tearing it up. It's a bit of a relief to have an event with some wind, and it is a really sweet spot..
