Ok,

Just come back from area and can tell you the following

If NE winds then Noosa River mouth is the GO. better in an outgoing tide then incoming so check tides. You will need to have a 4WD in order to get to the area know as the northshore so that you can park exactly where the sand bank is else a Dinghy from Noosaville will get you there. Cost is not cheap for Dingy.
I suggest you contact Josh from the kiteshop in Noosavile to get some local knowledge and conditions. Noosa river is not friendly unless you are a competent kiter due to the tides. You can Launch off Main beach on Noosa side and kite over IF you are competent. A support boat or Dinghy is a must if you are not 100% sure. Apparently there were shark sittings and injuries from Stingrays as well. The river mouth there is a great kite spot because it is flat and shallow most of the time (tide dependent)
You can also go to Sunshine beach away from the flags. It also pays to say G'day to the lifeguards when you are there
Maroochydoore also has an area known as Cotton Tree that works with anything S in it. It is similar to the river mouth in condition

Then there's Caloundra that has some magic beaches as well that works pretty much with anything.

If in Noosa do not kite anywhere near the flags on Main beach (give it a wide berth)

For the area, you will need a 12 and a 15 if you're around 75kg winds are between 15-25kts most days. Else if you have a bow, then a 12 with a 132 board as your all round will do.
Hope this helps

cheers for that mate, very good info, much appreciated. Is NE the most constant wind direction over there in summer? What is wind consistency like over there during summer(gusty or a steady sea breeze)?

I hear there a just endless wide open beaches up there that just cop the swell dead on, i.e. mudjimba and maroochydore. Who these work in most wind directions (it's near where I'm staying - fingers crossed?

Cheers for the help again

Hi
Not too sure about consistency mate but was consistent enough when I was there. Speak to Josh and he will be a great help.

Noosa is the bomb is you live near there else Cotton Tree is also great in Roochy. Grab a map and you will see what I mean. Beaches Where do you start ?
