Hiya

Wondering if its possible to surf sunshine coast with a limited quiver? What would be the average sized kite ridden by intermediates of a hefty 90kg?

Reckoning on a 12 -14M looking at your patterns?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Hello Parafin
I kite the Maroochy river entrance every couple of months or so, and I'd say that a guy your size would need to go bigger than 12-14 if on a C. I'm only 75kgs and have used a 14 C up there mostly but there's not that much wind. Like I say I only go up there every 6 weeks or so, so my opinion is probably not that great. Hopefully one of the local guys there will see your thread.

I used to have 2 kites a 17,12 and 8m (mainly used the 17 and 12). In november i Got a wind wing rampage 2. They told me i would only need a 9.5m and i would only need one kite. I didn't beleive them but I swear all i have every used is the 9.5 rampage 2. I have been travelling around the east coast the last 4 weeks with all 4 kites but have only used the 9.5.
I am about 78kg so perhaps you should get the 12m but i swear this is deffinetley a 1 kite quiver.
good luck

Hey Parafin

I weigh 80kg and ride a 14m all the time up here. We get about 2 to 3 sessions a week (had 4 in the last week). So I suggest a 14m for you and not a 12. Our most common winds are in the 15-20 knot range.
Occasionally we get winds over 20 and 25kts when you would need a smaller kite.

I am on the central part of the coast so most of our sessions are down winders but when the winds are quite easterly we go to the Maroochy river mouth.

Cheers guys - reckon I'll trade my C up for a 14 hybrid...maybe a havoc or boxer sle...heard some good things about the f-one tribal II, any favoured brands out on the ss coast?

Gonna be possibly moving to Buderim - seen a few of you guys blasting off caloundra on my last trip out there - looking good. Reckon I'll miss our Freo Doc if I do come though

Hey Parafin

Good move to Buderim - what you'll miss of WA will be by far made up here.

No brands really favoured here - all the major ones are pretty well represented - not too many posers here where we kite - just a good crew having a lot of fun.

Seen a few 14m North Rebels flying around - may be my next kite?? Well a 10 that is for stronger days.

Well, off for a downwinder (just seen it's 17 to 22 N) - my 5th session in 7 days - geez, lifes hard...

PM me when you get here if you need some tips on where to go.

Hey Parafin

Yeah I agree witht eh guys - a 14m is the best alrounder for someone your size (I'm 92kg). I have a 14m and a 9m waroo, and 90% of the time I'm on the 14. You could get a 12m, but you'd kinda need a light wind board.
