I've been having issues with finding a good wax to stick to my board under my lead foot. I've never had any problems before with any wax I use (cold or warm) whist free surfing however I guess the heavy loads of kitesurfing are a little too much. I can get around 30mins of surfing in before the wax wears off to the glass deck which obviously makes sticking to my board a problem.

I have tried a bottom layer of tropical strength sex wax topped with a softer compound but to no avail. I prepare the deck with every new wax job by cleaning it with solvent so I don't think that is the problem. I do not want to go to a deck grip at this stage as I want the board to feel just like it would free surfing. I ride on the sunshine coast Qld. Any tips would be appreciated.

I picked up a few blocks of base layer wax when I was in Maui last year, it was made by some local guy and solid as a rock. I've been using that for most of summer, it was super hard and was still bumpy/sticky after a 3-4 hour ride.

Since i've run out, i've been using Palmers Bali Brew - its not quite as good, but still better than other stuff i've used.

I cut up a tail pad and put that where I put my front foot, then wax heavily around it, works well for me.

Yeah that would be an issue, I don't kite my standard surfboards as they get demolished way too quick.

You probably won't want to do it, but booties will give you plenty of grip.

Some surfers put down a base layer of cold water wax and then for summer put on warm water wax over the top.

Put it on with water flowing over the board and apply in circular motion to create little islands of wax.
