I've just realised... when I'm kiting into waves, it is a whole different view / approach on how the wave breaks.

There's some of the old 'reading' skills being used but it's almost like the waves are walling up for longer!! Who would have thought there'd be something to turn blown out close outs into this down-the-line view?

I guess it's the 'tow-in' effect of being powered up and riding into a wave, rather than sitting and paddling in. The wave is suddenly opening up so much more.

Am I hallucinating or do others have this view too?

I'm just stoked that my perception of a wave can change so dramatically!!!

I can't wait to try windsurfing, bum-in-the-air paddling (with budgie smugglers), goat boating, outrigger canoeing, etc etc to see what else changes!

You get the same point of view change with SUP. You get in early enough that you can get a good ride before the wave closes out.

shhh .most surfers haven't figured this out yet and that on a blown out day you can use a kite to catch windslop and have fun and you don't have to fight it out on one small break most of the time
