Rig at Blacksmiths, although it's very busy these days so it's best to be well north of the flags and beach goers. Avoid two hours either side of high tide due to incoming tidal current. Outgoing current peaks around low tide, and can be very fast 4 - 5 knots. If things go wrong, you end up a fair bit out to sea, and have to be prepared for this. It's mainly kited in light winds to get the extra boost from the current. (which hopefully issn't needed this weekend, but as you say a change can be good). Swell has to be from the E to NE for any surf there. It's occasionaly good, but often the swell is a bit confused.

Salts bay at the end of the channel on the southern side is a good flat water spot in a NE. They do lessons there sometimes as its sandy and not too deep for a fair way, it's a quick upwind to get to the bar for some waves too. Only thing is you need to walk a little bit west down the beach until you get consistent wind the eastern corner is sheltered a bit.
Blackies beach to the north has plenty of territory to be by yourself and Hams beach used to get quite a few kiters in a NE, not sure now days.
