Just wanted to share with you a way I have found to rid everyone of a board leash. I was always one of those that seemed to get seperated from my board at the slightest stack, and then i spent the next 5 to 10 minutes trying to body drag back and forth to it, and sometimes never being able to as the current or the wind would work against me.... I now have taken a single swim paddle, (the kind that you strap to your hand for swim training), I attached some velcro to my harness and it sits on my backside. When I have a stack, I use the paddle for extra rudder power and I can get to my board within no more than 2 passes at most.....

seems a bit extreme.....
point your body up wind slightly and fly the kite out to the side, works for me?

Im all for the extinction of board leashes, nasty little things, lol extra rudder power, thats funky bro, well if it works for you and gets rid of the leash good on ya, by the way id be a bit worried about haveing a big slam on my butt with a paddle sitting thier, might get a bit mental when it slices or crushes into your backside, it can hurt enough just hitting the clear un obstructed water, lol

I have had to swim in so many times lately from my new bows inverting that I now carry around body board flippers on the back of my hanress to make the swim home a little easier.

Failing that they make me look really buff when I put them inside my michellin man impact vest...

I find velcroing a winged keel to my arse allows me to body drag upwind, turn on a dime and beat any seppo on the water.

I'm actually thinking of losing the board altogether.

This paddle is only just a tad bigger than your hand, and it is flat against the harness, not in the way at all, and with larger size velcro it never comes off from a stack, but i do understand the concerns of a foreign object attached.

Fair dinkum some of you guys must be doing some serious drugs!

What next ??? Umbrella's to stop the sun frying your head , what

about hair gel for that extreme wipeout (always gota look your best),

why dont you get a surgical implant of bull's testicals , that'l

give you bigger balls to bodydrag quicker or give you wings to fly

I have just invented a solar powered motor that extends out of my ass after a big stack.Gets me back to my board in no time.If you want i can send you one with full insertion instructions and a free tub of vaseline. It comes in two sizes, tight ass and loose ring.

SERIOUSLY,
why dont you just use a good old board leash.

If you are worried about it dangling in the water, attach it to the side or back of your harness the keep it up in the air.
Or use one of the boogie board leashes that are curled up like a pigs tail, to keep them out of the water.

grumple, ever been hit in the head by your board cause it was on a leash?

If you had you would know why the rest or us dont wear leashes...

Besides - if you cant body drag with a kite what are you doing trying to learn how t oride on a board?

I think the more annoying thing with body draggin upwind to get your board is when you keep swallowing water because its so damn choppy and you have to swallow some water coz you have to breathe - even if you tilt your head the opposite way.

SAY NO TO BOARD LEASHES, dont come down to Noosa with one of those things, you wont be welcomed with open arms, if you do keep clear of the rest of us thanx, we dont want to be messed up by your knife on a rope. No but seriously learn to body drag upwind. Now, ok, go on, stop reading this and get out and body drag.
