Wind strength- 15-20; so most common kite size here is 12m. Kite spots- Botany Bay has brilliant flat water kiting, so suburbs are: Sans Souci, Dolls Point, Brighton le Sands. Also good surf kiting near this area: Wanda Beach.
Mate, don't listen to onepump, Kiting on the south side of the city sux! If you move to Sydney, try to get a place on one of the northern beaches. Plenty of top quality kite spots, reliable winds and hot chicks everywhere!
Welcome bigmark 100 to the Sydney kiting scene and welcome to the Sydney kiting fraternity " sense of humour ". One thing you will discover about Sydney - when the wind blows - North or South of the Harbour - the kiting is good. Problem is during this time of year - it doesn't blow enough. BUT the North East winds are coming and fun times begin.
Those last two posters are just joshing with you mate - they probably live on the southside and want to keep the kiting numbers down over here
AND as far as the " Chicks " - mate let me tell you - Botany Bay has the cream of the crop -- the spunkiest little GALAH CHICKS you could ever meet ----------- just ask FELIX .... who regularly posts on the " GALAH to be outed thread......."
Look me up when you get to the BAY mate - I'm always at Brighton, Dolls Point or Kurnell - you can't miss me --I wear a PINK and GREY wetsuit - BUT I'm NOT the GALAH - even though many will try to convince you otherwise !
Cheers mate and don't forget to talk with FELIX - he's a cool cat
Hi Mark North and south are both good spots along the coast But if you like kiting all year round then it has to be the south. Botany Bay covers all wind directions + there are more Poms on the south Side. Looking good for Friday Big Col will give you a call.
Back to the post Mark kites most used kite 12m then 9m or 16m with deals and second hand gear it would be cheaper to get gear here specialy this time of year see Steve at Kite Power selling off 2006 gear now.Welcome to Sydney KK and Brighton Kiter Kev
To get an idea of the kiting locations around Sydney have a look at the NSWKBA kite spots map http://www.nswkba.com.au/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=75
It uses Google maps to indicate several of the kiting spots. This will show you where the spots are, then use the google maps streetmap to get an idea of the suburbs.
I live in the North by the way but kite anywhere there is wind!
Hey guys , thanks for all the info. Im just glad to hear that there is a kiting scene, north or south. and ya' all sound like a friendly bunch. awesome!
