I'll believe it when I see it, but the Bureau are calling for some west in the breeze today:

Wind:SW to 10 knots early, increasing to N/NW 20/25 knots by midday

I don't think I have actually seen a decent NW worth kiting in my short time attempting to kite.

I was planning on heading to First Groin at Brighton to kite if the wind got up. If it actually is NW instead of N or NE, will Brighton still be feasible?

I can see from looking at a map that Kurnell would work better than Brighton if there was any west in it, but I have heard that I may be less than welcome there, and it is a hell of a lot further to drive.

I guess if I go to Brighton and it is NW and I get into trouble, I might find out if they are friendly at Kurnell anyway......

You're takin the p!ss ...right ...time to give up kiting buddy...if your brain thinks that way........ No one is friendly at the Tripple K
Clayton ...in all seriousness....keep your kites in the boot...offshore riding at Brighton is a no no.....and from your enquiry there is no doubt that you are not ready to dodge the groynes, oysters and other nasties that the Tripple has to offer...wait until more favourable winds ( NE,E,S.SE ) at Brighton...THEY WILL COME

Hi Clayton Lee,

NW in Sydney ... Kurnell is an option ... But definately NOT for beginners ...

Go to nswkba web site (http://www.nswkba.com.au) have a look at locations ...

Other options are:

* The Entrance (Picnic Point) ...about 1 - 1.5 hours north of Sydney ... flat water spot, launch is a bit tricky ... assisted launch and land is prefered

* Palm Beach (Pittwater Side) ... launch is also tricky ... assisted launch and land is prefered

But ..... in all honesty if you have only been kiting for a short time , you would be best off taking a break today ...:-)
There will be PLENTY of kitable days ...
I understand your eagerness and enthusiasm ...
BUT ... You would be better off giving it a miss for a day ... rather than wreck your gear or yourself !!!

NW Winds can be gusty ... also ... not good for inexperience riders ...

Be Safe!
Enjoy!

Seabreeze graph, saying it is a noreaster. Watch it for the next hour, if it strengthens up, a norwester will be killed off for the day. My theory anyway.

Yep - that is my working theory as well. I figure the NE will kill the NW - just curious on options.

I don't know how fearful KKK actually is - I am not a beginner - this is my second season - I can ride reasonably well and stay upwind, pending having a board big enough for my fat arse as per my other post.

Still, my guess is it will be NE green arrows by midday - will just have to wait and see.

I followed my own advice, watched the wind, and went to cables instead, a little choppy, but flattened out in the arvo.

Good to see all the usual suspects at the KKK on Sunday

No shortage of carnage too...
