I am looking at getting in an early (8.30amish) session tomorrow with a mate before this SE system washes out.

We are both beginners - just at the point where we are beginning to stay upwind for a couple of runs - but not consistently.

We have been kiting at Brighton-Le-Sands so far - mostly at First Groyne in NE conditions.

Tomorrow will be our first time kiting a SE in Sydney.

From the maps and common sense, it appears that as long as there is enough E in the SE, First Groyne and a little further south will be equally as good in the SE as the NE.

Our other option is Boat Harbour - we have a 4WD and the entry fee isn't a hassle - but is it worth the extra drive?

My research seems to indicate that it is golden in a SE, but we are coming from the Neutral Bay area - so we are talking a valuable extra 30-40 minutes that we could be kiting.

I am super keen for some real flat water - I feel like every time I am gaining ground upwind on Botany Bay a particularly big piece of chop grabs me and spits me out - if it is really flat water at Boat Harbour in a SE it might be worth the trek.

Opinions anyone?

Its pretty choppy at Boat in a SE once you get away from the beach/reef.
Most kiters go to wanda, surf will not be huge just go down the beach a bit and you will be fine and out of anyone and everyones way, don't go out the back stay in close and ride between the waves its very flat.

This SE will burn out early.

Real early-like done by dawn-damn it-the waves came up and it would be great if there was wind.

Spot on mate - Brighton is fine for SE & flat water behind the rockwalls.
Do yourself a favour and don't waste the extra 30 min driving to Wanda!

Bah.

I rolled out of bed at 7.30am, looked at the yellow arrows and went back to sleep.

Thought about going out this afternoon, but it looked like it had too much west in it, and that it only got up for a short amount of time.

Fricking 3 day long weekend with now wind - what is with that.

Back at work tomorrow, and the Arrows are green every afternoon this week.

There was wind today, you just needed to be over the windy side of Sydney.
Had a good 90 min session at wanda with several other kiters, one guy I sopke to had been out 3 hrs, wind died around 4ish, but came back in again but by then it started raining.

I had enough wind to try out the 10M Ozone Light XC, its going to be a winner in waves.

Cronulla was awash with drunken flag waving Australia day yobbos, looked very suss as in red necky.
