best bet out of the waves is dolls or brighton, although brighton may be tricky with the "new" rock groynes
boat harbour is ok also, but isn't free...

Easterly is the worst direction for the longevity of access to Botany Bay for kiters!!
Saturday at Dolls, knobend teaching mate to fly old SS fuel trying to launch it half inflated well upwind of the wind window. Speak to him, he decides to inflate kite more but not stop. A few minutes later the mate puts the kite into the power lines.
Very lucky the mate did not contact the concrete wall, kite removed from lines quickly, then the owner proceeds to try again to get out in 10-12knots with this 11M kite. Ends up downwind opposite where the kitepower shop is and crashes it on the beach, could not see if he hit anyone.
Sunday, same wind direction but a bit lighter. Fuel guy did not come back, but this other occassional pest turns up with a 3M Blade, ffoil kite, and set it up right in the middle of the tiny beach, in between the kiteboarders. There is a ton of room further down the beach, but he has to fly in between all the kiters. He has been spoken too a few times now, and the next time his kite will be packed away for him.
We all need to be vigilant for people doing crazy stuff at out beaches here in Sydney, or we will lose them.
Spoke to some other guys later who were trying to do a bad launch, in a really bad narrow spot, they were cool about it, and will be seeking lessons and checking out other spots better suited to their level when the wind is East.
