Geoff Mccoy`s boards are avaiable in Sydney, they look a bit strange but go unreal.

Myself and half a dozen mates are all now commited Mccoy sufers, two of them have gone from 2nd round knockouts to placing in the finals in nearly every club comp we have.

Really excellent allround useability, we always say it feels like driving a subaru WRX((ie. anyone can drive it hard and fast and have alot of fun without crashing)) while everyone else is driving formula one cars.((super hard to drive well))

If the conditions are perfect and your in the top 1% of surfers, ride a normal shortboard. If your surfing waves that are less than perfect and you are in the 99% of normal surfers ability then get on a nugget from Geoff Mccoy.

Honestly, there is a huge difference, You`ll remember the joy of surfing again no matter what the conditions are like.

Yeah stu Martin is the man for surfboards especially surfboards suited for kite surfing. I have ridden a friends built by stu and it was amazing.
Underground now make surf boards that are bullet proof great for kiting since resistant to heel dents. KP stocks them and there is a demo one for sale as well.

No don't do it ... don't tell people about Nuggets - your giving away our advantage ! I got onto them via Cheyne Horan in Bali and have never looked back ... Glaucus you've explained tooo much already - spot on though...

Hey, I am on Oahu and recently got a 7 foot surftech Nugget - you never see them out here - As a fair sized longboarder (165 pounds, 75 kilo) this is my first venture into shortboarding

As a Nugget fan, any tips for a graceful longboard transition? I know the nugget handles differently from other shortboards, but I havn't figured it out just yet.

Aloha, Tom

I've lived in Sydney all my life, and the lack of good waves recently leeves you needing some serious paddle power and speed! I have been surfing the Naish Hybrid 6'6" for about 2 years now and love it, it paddles nearly as fast as the boys on their 9' mals but surf like a short board, I have just recently gotten onto the 6'0", and it's wikid. A bit harder to control on head high waves, but for messen around in sloppy surf (Sydney waves!) it great. With the 6'6", it's a one board quiver! You can seriously ride under knee high waves, to over head, do airs, any snaps and powerful carves! If your around the north side you can demo mine, otherwise I believe Kitepower may have a demo one?

JB

Kitepower does have a 6'6" Naish spot on JB. We also have a demo 07 Slingy SRT's, demo 05/06 Underground and 07 Underground 6'2"'s on their way.

kiteboards suck for surfing, to heavy. most established shappers are gonna make you something sick, just look around for the best price.

The Webber After Burners are very nice sticks... fast and loose. They come in epoxy - extremely light and strong, but they feel different to ride than the poly boards.

If you want a Fish, check out the MR's... very nice boards... Don't go 2 short though as they become 2 critical to ride.

If its just a board for surfing, don't buy a kite company surf board. Get a stick from a local shaper.... they know the local conditions and shape boards to suit.
