Some information to all those riders who have been contacting me regarding the Takoon kites, in particular the New NOVA. Word is out that Caromav Pty Ltd, who are also the Slingshot importers for Australia, are the agents for these excellent and innovative performance kite range.
The first shipment is due in early next week. There are still some Nova kites available in this shipment, we are taking orders. Many shops have signed on to work with us to retail Takoon in OZ and we will be posting a dealer contact list shortly.
Takoon will fit in really well with our other agency brands like Slingshot and the Mystic harness and accessory line...
Hi Andy, Nice to hear that Takoon will finally have professional representation down under. Good on you Andy for recognising the exclusivity of Takoon.
Good to talk to you the other day and I look forward to testing the Nova in the coming weeks.
Hope that you will be able to keep prices down on the Nova when compared to the Crossbow and other LEI kites. This way you'll be sure to sell more and get Takoon out there. Gotta love that the NOVA also has the single pump point. Cheers
This is of interest to me as it is A one pump version of the Crossbow with a slight different bar setup and profile. I do believe that the safety on this kite is on one line. So it will completely depower. like a Crossbow if pushed further it will fully depower the kite but it has the added saftey running through the chicken so u can ride unhooked and so on use it the same as a crossbow hook to the chicken loop or hook it to the safety if needed for paramount situations where the kite needs to run from one line. I hear it can be recovered from this one line and relaunched.
I would like to see the Crossbow in ultra high winds hit the deck as it runs off two lines for the complete depower. So I am thinking maybe it can bounce from the water and relaunch then hit the deck? Again and again doing this all the way down wind until you reach land or something else.
what about if you get whooped bad catapulted or Slingshot so then your lines go loose. Then when you and the kite hit the deck it inside outs it self. As most of us are aware already If you swim toward it whilst trying to relaunch it will twist inside out. They say it will still fly unlike a 5 line kite but a few time hmm with a bridle that needs to relax the back lines to depower and they run through a pulley on the bridle I think I need to see it.
So perhaps the very thing that makes the Crossbow so easy to relaunch may in fact make it a danger in very high wind. As the only thing left is to ditch the kite all together. Leaving you stranded in the ocean or your kite strung around some poor punters now broken neck.So can the crossbow run a safety to one line incase?
I am on the gold coast and don’t really see that many Cabrinha kites here at all so what is the resale going to be like? As I am on the north this year is it wise to go to a brand that has had such trouble with recon 1 and 2? And Takoon not as big again well for now! SO what about price it is no North or Naish or Slingshot the three big toys!
Not to worry I say, I will be trying the Crossbow and Nova soon and will know if it is all it is meant to be. I hear the bar pressure on a Crossbow is strong and on the Nova light so it really is about trying these kites out! I don’t get payed to ride, so I want in a kite for my money to have good resale, strong build and great technical advantages over previous models I dont want it to just have one of those features like good resale. Also I don’t want it in the shop for a week or whatever under warranty when I am running out of season wind.
