Looking at getting a new board but cant decide what to get. Ive got a borrowed tt and a couple of surfboards laying around... I can only buy 1 board at the moment due to lack af funds. I'll be using the board 60% surf 40% flat water..and want something that goes both directions really well. Im 70kg with average skill level
Been looking at: slingshot fuse
airush hammer
RRD toxic wave
spleene zone bi
regular tt

What do you guys reckon i should get???

if u alrdy got a few surfys lyin around logic would say get a half decent regular TT so that you have better variety.. boards that perform well in surf and boards performing well in flat water rather then one board thats average over the two fields

Hi Surfsky,

Agreed, go the Hammer. If you are serious about your wave riding, the 144 will get you out in more days but the 138 for high winds, personally, I'd go the 144. A nice ride!

It is most at home in the waves, does a reasonable job in flat water and excels in really choppy water.

Good winds,

hang on ppl, 44 is too big for 70kg person, might be good in the surf but then its too big in the flat. you want something smaller, easier to throw around. go down one size

I had a Hammer and now have a Cardboard Tempo. The Cardboard is a much stronger board and has more flex. If you're looking at 40% flat water, the Hammer is not the right board but it does handle the surf really well and carves well.

It also depends on the style you want to ride. If you already have surfboards, go for a Cardboard.

I can only comment on the Zone, never ridden any of the others. I was going to get the zone bi but decided to Harden Up and learn to ride directional (even though you can set it up with the straps symetrical and learn to gyde).

Awsome board.... review here www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=36484&SearchTerms=spleen,zone

BTW, i also have a couple of TTs and usually swap boards a few times during a session.... although the zone is getting more attention than any of the others.

Probably not a fantastic idea to get a mutant when you have surfboards lying around. its winter which is surfboard heaven, It's the end of the season and a few guys are selling twin tips. For a 70 kg rider, a 128- 132 will get you through most flatwater conditions and you can use the surfboard in under 14 knots.
In my opinion, surf riding and flatwater are almost different sports, both as fun and challenging as each other.

The Cardboards are much stronger than the Hammer. They have a wood core. The Hammer has a foam core - I found that out when I snapped one.
