I am posting on behalf of a mate of mine who asked me to put this post in for him.

George has been flying his T3 all summer and has had issues with the leading edge tearing.Even though he had it repaired under warranty the leading edge was still giving way. After six months the kite looked like it was going to tear agian , and it did so JB replaced it with a new kite.

I have heard stories of kite companies not backing there warranty claims but I have to say Naish have certainly done the right thing in this instance, its service like this that keeps people happy and of course more imporatantly coming back to buy more kites.

A big thanks to JB and Jason.

And so they should!

Doesn't sound like service to me,getting stuffed around for 6 months with a dodgy kite! The seasons over now,big deal, they weren't going to sell anymore of those Torches anyway !

I don't fully agree. What is to say your mate did not smash it in the sand/water every time he used it. And you said ALL summer thats alot of use. If I had a shop I wouldn't have replaced your kite, maybe a discount. I am not being nasty but lets say you brought a motocross bike and did a 160ft jump and your stuffed the landing and your frame twisted they would tell you to get lost. I think your very very lucky.

Thats my whole point , they could have easily said that but they did not, as for the rider George he is probably one of the safest guys I know that I kite with, I think through the summer I saw him put his kite in the water twice , once because their was no wind and the kite fell out of the sky.

I know of people who have walked into kiteshops with valid warranty claims only to be told its the way you use the kite and its your own fault. Its not luck its just plain old fashioned good service and honesty which in todays society does not happen enough and when it does its worth a mention because we as a kiting community need to know, thats what this forum is all about.

ive been riding and trashing my new T3 since late last year and its put up with all the smashing a kite gets and then some, in new hands, its one tough cookie, especially after being wrapped around a jetty pilon covered in oysters in a fast flowing outgoing tide leading edge first for about 25 mins, the same pilon which left my body and board with chunks missing and a whole lot of blood spilt, (Yes now i know ...kite on the other side of the fricken long jetty when the tides going out so fast....yeah learning is fun...) the kite was rubbing up and down leading edge first for over 25 mins whilst i rescued myself and board etc (yes very amusing, from the comfort of the shoreline)the kite doesnt even have a scratch mark on it, so yeah rubbish, i dont think so, actually well desgined, awesum depower, very grunty, great 1 pump inflation system, strong bomb proof construction and very forgiving, but hey thats just my opinion, oh and i own and ride other brands as well, north etc, so im not pimping just sharing my experience with the naish torch 2007.

I think there is a fair bit of luck involved in getting a warrenty claim accepted because kites generaly do get knocks and no matter how bomb **** they are said to be it leaves alot of grey area in between abuse and faulty that the kite warrenty shop has to accept.

Yes it was good of the brand/company and shop to accept the kite was a dud - each brand has its limits to what is acceptable and what is not - its up to us the consumer to make it clear the brands that are tight asses with warranty issues are known to all through media exposure such as the forum.

Anyhow correct me if i am wrong on this as i dont own a kite shop on the process of warenty issues.

It is a little hit or miss depends on the company/store policy. That said if you take a kite in and try to clame a warrenty there are "tells" left on the fabric hinting to as what caused the rip hole tear.

george's kite was one of the first t3's around. the wing tips had no protection points the cause of all his problems. mine came with extra protection and no problems for me.
most importantly the leading edge is holding together. has never deflated on me mid session or exploded on the beach while pumping it up.yep i'll get another
