Has anyone got one of these? I've just ordered one.

www.thetrackr.com/

A small, coin sized GPS tracking device that you attach to any item (eg: Kiteboard) and it allows you to locate your lost item via iPhone or Android app. They are said to be waterproof.

I'm interested to see how it goes.

The more you buy the cheaper they get. $29 for 1, or 10 for $99. Plus $10 shipping ($USD) - If it's any good for what we do maybe we could organize a seabreeze bulk buy...

The trackr relies on other people being in close proximity (<100m) to sense where your lost item is.

Maybe you should have had a crowd around at the time.

i ordered 10, so many applications I can think of, bags, cars, dogs, kids, ipads....

My only query was battery life, which they claim is over a year, so I'll just replace batteries on critical ones after 9 odd months.

Crowd GPS.

Needs a good number of users for anything that's stolen/lost to be effectively found, but a great idea. I too can think of a thousand uses.
