No shops, pimps or losers please [}:)]

Dont really want to shell out getting a new bar. Have rigged up my existing XXXX brand bar with a 5th which is functional, but doesnt have an easy spinning leash attachment.

My 5th line also runs as an independent line all the way from the kite nose to the top of the depower strap. Most of the retail versions have the the front lines running as 1 line most of the way to the kite and then splitting. This would be of benefit with spins.

Interested in hearing from other tight-asses who have retro'ed a good 5th system onto a bog standard 4-line bar.

ive played with a few 5th line setups and hacked together a few of my own.

the naish shift line setup is by far the best... the new full shift bar and line set looks awesome but $$ :(

if you can get hold of the older shift rig cheap thats by far the neatest way to get a fully spinning 5th line setup imo

Wat do you mean by spinning? All the sytems i seen wrap the 5th line around the middle lines after being spun.

I used a 2004 slingshot bar, when my first layer of chicken loop wore out i could put a 5th line through the middle. Not perfect by any means but cheap.

Solution learn backrolls and frontrolls or back rolls both wys or front rolls both ways and unspin your bar that way. Thats what i do.

the gaastra 5th line is 100% spinning

naish 5th line, unhook = untangle, doesnt' really tangle up much anyway

any 5th that runs through the bar should be more or less tangle free

Spacemonkey! is tuned.
Learn to do tricks well on both tacks.
Not only does it untwist the lines, but it also balances the body.
Yin and Yang.
Kitesurfing is the ultimate unbiased watersport, if you wish.

I have a Peter Lyn Spreader bar.
The hook can rotate while the chickenloop and 5TH line bungee quick release are connected to it.

In the image on the link below it does not show the stainless loop for the quick release bungee.

I find that that it doesn't always rotate by itself and I have to help it, which I do not mind.

after you do it all the time, doing front rolls and backrolls arent even tricks, you just do it to untwist. Also good for your kiting skills aswell to be able to do tricks both ways.

Airush or LF swivel cloop with sideline safety.
Slingy swivel above trim cleat with 5th as a grab in center hole.
I have 2 myself and have made custom setups for about 8 other guys.
It's called "THE ELPRIMO" tm. LOL

The new axis bar from flexi looks like the best out there off the shelf imo. Shame they dropped the cleat depower though by the look of it.
But, they have sourced (or made)a hollow swivel so the 5th can run all the way thru and down as a safety. I'd like to get my hands on a few of those swivels!!! Can't see myself shelling out the cost of a good kite for a bar!!

Steve - are the Flexi bars still only complete or can we buy part items off you now???

I used an old Wipika bar and added 2 Slingshot stopper balls - one above the bar and one below. I then drilled holes in the sides of the balls parallel to the trim line large enough to allow a leader line to move smoothly through both stopper balls and the bar without too much friction. I tied a ring to the end of the leader that protrudes through the lower ball, this where I attach my safety. I then threaded the leader through the rings on the depower straps and attached it to a line connected to the 5th line pigtail on the kite.

It took a couple of test flights to get the length right but now I have a 5 line bar for the cost of a ring and 2 stopper balls!!

NB: There must be enough room in the bar to allow a 5th line to move without seizing.

Don't know, doubt it, but I will ask.
It would not make a lot of sense for them to do it, smae as it would not make a lot of sense for Slingy to sell the black adjuster ball thingy on the turbo diesels just yet.

I will ask, am about to do an order. I have already ordered on of the new Fusion kites and it will come with one of those bars, hope to have it within a couple of weeks.

Bigwavedave's idea is simple, seen a few bars done similar to that and KUSU's sounds great too, Kurt is a bar tinkerer, post some pics Kurt?

Agree that the Flexifoil Axis bar looks the goods - SOOO simple.

Steve - what kind of $$$ will you be able to sell these for? Got about 3 months solid kiting coming up, so may be able to justify the spend.

Unfortunately not Perth or Denham for that matter. I grew up in Perth but have been caged up in Melb for the last 8 years - dont ask why

I will be finishing work on 16th Dec & then not looking to find my next contract till April. Moving down to Altona Bch, so main kiting spots will be Altona, Pt Henry & Pt Danger Torquay. When the school holiday crowds dissapate I will be travelling further afield to Merimbula/Pambula, Pt Fairy etc etc.

Mate has also organised to take all of Feb off - so it should be a good kite-surf-ari!
