Hi Peeps,

Today whilst overlooking the general scene of kiting from the trailer, a lone figure came bounding down the access way with a beer in his hand and a cold six pack in the other.

He walked straight up and offered myself and a fellow instructor a beer each. Surprised, we asked what was the occassion. His reply, "My first kitesurfing day"

He had gotten up and ridden both directions and you couldn't remove the smile from his face with a pick axe.

As instructors we get to live vicariously through the eyes of our students daily and get to relive and rejoice in the little things that make kiteboarding so great. It is such a privalege to be there at that moment so many times. First water start, first ride downwind, first time upwind, first body drag, first jump. So many awesome firsts.

It keeps things in perspective. Although you may accomplish more in your riding, the newbies probably have more joy in the little things.

Good winds to all the noobs!...... and thanks for the beer!

Wow, funny you brought this up. I was sitting on the beach today with the misses watching some newbies going through their paces, body gragging down wind, struggling to board start, relaunch and she says to me jokingly " don`t you miss being a beginner?" I thought , actually in some ways I do. As much as I love this sport and am still so heavily addicted to it I`ll never forget those first days, the buzz of getting into something so different and exciting! The Challenge!
I understand fully what you guys are saying. So nice to see that big grin, wide eyed look that you just can`t wipe off on the face of someone who`s just progressed that little bit more.
Reminds you of when you were starting off.
Keep up up the good work guys. I`m sure most of us appreciate and wont forget your efforts in getting us up and going.

What's even better is when a student ends up your best friend and you get to watch them develop from a noob to an advanced noob then to start out-tricking you!! Now I'm the noob!

Getting picked up from home, drivin to a secret spot by 4wd, drinkin cold beers, cooking baked beans, kiting til dark, kiting at dawn. Gotta love it.
