There is always the freeloading downwinder participant who seems never to contribute. He turns up, manages to 'bum' a ride and never gives back.
They generally own a flash car too.

Pull them up straight. If they don't come good it will be amazing how often your crew will fill up the spot and have no room for the said offender. Everyone needs to learn to share the wealth....

My balls are too small. I have difficulty in confronting people about such issues. I prefer to say nothing and avoid confrontation. Next time will make sure there is no seat left in my vehicle for him, or begin/end downwinder at different location than said offender.

Just do what a couple of local guys did one day on a down winder from Redhead to Blacksmiths.
They kited to blackies, went to get into the car they had left there and realized that the keys for said car were in other guys car parked at Redhead.

make a joke out of it. that way when you're all in the car on the way back he's forced to acknowledge the situation and you don't have to actually confront anyone. it's gotta be good for a few beers at the end of the day (try to sit on the bonnet of the offender's car as you drink them).

it used to annoy me, but then i realised that some people just care way too much about their car, and annoyance turned to pity. imagine worrying that much about getting sand in your car. plus the guilt must taint every downwinder they do.

i prefer not to have any extra stresses- it's just a car to me, functional and made to be filled with sand.

beer or food tax. I don't drive but love a down winder so try to pay extra for a pizza or beers to offset fuel and hassle

I dont do it, but is it really a big deal?

I never really care if someone wants to tag along if we've got the room.

My preferd choice is my troopy, no seats, can fit so much gear in the back without having to worry about what goes were, big wet's bin, more kites and boards the better.

just dont sitt on the boards, why do you have to tell people that?
