Was up sunshine way yesterday arvo, humming along off of mofat beach and heading out to the outside breaker (guess there's an outside sandbar about 500 meters out where the swell breaks in two spots) and in the Green water at the top I see this thing that looks like the Best Logo but without the wings...I'm about 150 m from the breakers and this thing is about 50 -100 meters away. First thing I thought was shark...looked pretty respectable in size too...maybe three meters or so (with a split second glance, pretty hard to guess)
The helicopter also gave us a buzz a couple of times. Needless to say, i shot of dwnwind.
Pretty freaky as I was cruising around pretty far out and went upwind quite a ways (maybe 3km or so) to do a downwinder.
On another note, what the hell was up with those conditions?!?! The NE never showed, stuffing a perfectly good day at the passage....arrgh.

The best logo looks more like a winged goldfish than a winged mullet...?
