I think that the issue here is more complicated.
Is how do you feel, when after hard work, frustration and sweat, finally "you got it".
It gives you that feeling that you want to go and tell everybody, and if someone was there and notice, you already "claimed it".
And the real claim comes when others are interested, and come to ask you to show them and help them do it too.
In my opinion, something like that you don't claim, but it is claimed in your name, when it is recognised and adopted by others.

And there is nothing wrong with woohoo-ing!!!
