There are many types of claims. You do not have to claim with out the fist in the air. I never liked fist in the air, i hate it when the pros do it, it was just not the thing when i was a grommet.

Best is pull out your dick and scream your guts out unless the water is cold. Then you should just paddle back to the crew and stop everyone to ask "did you see that"

I reakon the hoot is the best, your right, it puts a big smile on everyones faces. Surfing(every wants to be super heros and legends) and kiting(every one wants to go big and loves to see others go big) are two different animals when you talk about to claim and not to claim. Claim if your kiting, stay cool if your surfin. Ones a top social sport the other activity can be a giant pain in the arse[}:)]

I think that the issue here is more complicated.
Is how do you feel, when after hard work, frustration and sweat, finally "you got it".
It gives you that feeling that you want to go and tell everybody, and if someone was there and notice, you already "claimed it".
And the real claim comes when others are interested, and come to ask you to show them and help them do it too.
In my opinion, something like that you don't claim, but it is claimed in your name, when it is recognised and adopted by others.
And there is nothing wrong with woohoo-ing!!!
